Although it was a little heavy-handed in its philosophy, I enjoyed the ending of SOMA quite a bit.

The original Kingdom Hearts had a big impact on me as a kid.

MGS 3s ending is absolutely legendary

Xenoblade Chronicles 1 is a quintessential perfect ending, IMO. I can't really go into details why w/o writing an essay and including massive spoilers, but...it just does everything you could possibly want out of an ending.

I think the original Radiant Historia's ending is the one that made me the most emotional, it was wonderfully bittersweet. If you get the best ending, it feels totally earned and so good, yet still (for spoiler reasons) sad in its own way. Then the Perfect Chronology remake ruined it all....

Also, Suikoden II's three main endings are an all time classic. The way each one (in order from worst to best) gently guides you into the next with subtle clues and that final duel (if you got the true ending, you know which one I mean) is just done really well.

It's a brilliant ending... so long as you turn the game off right after Anderson dies.

Anything that happens after that, including Vent Boys, piss-poor writing, and color-swap explosions is obviously just the dying hallucinations of Shepard as they slowly bleed out next to their surrogate father figure.

I thought about this for a very long time and...totally agree dude. If the game just ended there, I would have been.. ya know? Happy. Just seeing them sit there, talking and looking at Earth I believe, etc. That was pretty cool.

Metal Gear Solid 3 immediately came to mind.

Wind Waker also has a phenomenal ending, which gets more impactful the more Zelda games you've played.

This and crisis core. If the ending can make me tear up it was good to me. Guess that means red dead redemption 2 also.

Would say mgs 4 but that wasnt a ending as much as it was a full length movie.

End Roll and Tales of the Abyss have my favorite endings, I think.

End Roll literally made me cry myself to sleep after finishing it for the first time and I still can't get through it without sobbing like a little bitch to this day, so... *shrug* No other game has ever hit me that hard, and I consider it to easily have the best downer ending I've ever seen in a video game, but man it's rough. I can't even listen to most of the OST, and that goes tenfold for the music that plays during the final sequences.
https://vgperson.com/games/endroll.htm

Tales of the Abyss, on the other hand, is probably my favorite ambiguous/bittersweet ending.

The FF series has quite a few solid "feel good" endings, like FFIV, V, VI, and IX. I sort of think of LoZ: ALttP and FFIV as having the most classic examples of feel-good endings that actually... you know, resolve things at the end compared to games made before them.

FFVI deserves a mention for having some great ending music, as does Nier: Gestalt/Replicant for Ashes of Dreams.

FF8...I dunno, that felt like an out of body experience for me the 1st time I saw it...don't know how well it holds up tho...

Personally, Revenge of Shinobi (Good Ending), Metroid (NES, the 'Reveal') and Phantasy Star 2 (One of the most epic Cliffhangers ever) are up there as well.

I love the ending music for Final Fantasy Legend.

It also has the best exploit of all time, allowing you to kill bosses with a single hit if you drag a particular useless weapon with you from like halfway through the game.

The SAW is supposed to compare the attacker's Strength against the target's Defense and if the Strength is higher, the target is KOed, but the programmers got the check backwards. It only kills if the Defense is HIGHER than the attacker's Strength, which makes it totally useless for most ordinary enemies but it will one-shot any boss character unless you've spent forever leveling up.

Right now the first thing to jump to mind is Saint's Row 2, the characters are looking over the city after having killed the Ultor exec in his office and one character asks, "What do we do now?", and the Playa answers, "Whatever we want."

Diablo 1 was pretty messed up. You spend the whole game looking to kill Diablo but in the end you realize it's impossible, so you take a sharp stone (that holds his imprisoned soul) and shove it into your head. You save the world, even though it dooms you for eterinity.

Aaaand you end up becoming the main villain of Diablo 2 because of it to boot.
