It's Thursday, you know what that means... it's time for another night of metal-munching mayhem! The end of the regular season is approaching fast, and the fight for a spot in the postseason tournament is heating up. Here's the fight card for tonight:

We have a great lineup of bots on the bubble this week. Hot off its first win in a long time, Captain Shrederator looks to make it two in a row as it takes on the flashy axebot Shatter in the opener, and the main event is a batter of devastating vertical spinners as Black Dragon takes on Copperhead. Also in action are Perfect Phoenix and its 11-year-old wonderkid driver, the absolutely massive walker bot Chomp, and last year's runner-up, Witch Doctor. We're about half an hour away from showtime, so tune in to see the carnage unfold!

I like how they just keep giving Chomp easy matchups. It's unbelievable how the entire organization stans so hard for such a bad team.

They beat Bite Force one time, and that one single big win is apparently enough to get the team a lifetime pass. Chomp is the Joe Flacco of BattleBots.

I like Witch Doctor and the team too, but I also like Craig Danby and his long history of lovable but mediocre bots. He's tried so many times in BattleBots, Robot Wars, and various other events, but until now with Slammow, he hasn't been able to break through and have a good showing.

No matter who wins, I'll be very happy for them.

That main event was a real slugfest, and I also enjoyed Perfect Phoenix getting helicoptered across the arena in its fight. Overall, a great ending to a solid episode. Next week is the last week of the regular season, then the postseason bracket will be revealed.

Either way, good matches tonight all around. Gotta say I'm gonna root pretty hard against Extinguisher next time. Kid was showboating way too early before the count-out lol.

Complete Control has the best flamethrower.

Gruff has the right idea but the flame isn't close enough or focused enough. So many bots just have a gas tank and spark and call it a day. Need a hot, blue flame to be anything other than a toy that tickles you.

And it's nice to see Witch Doctor not release the magic smoke for once.

Hope the win is good enough, along with the starpower of WD of course. I'm so disappointed Gruff lost. I like it's look, it's name really fits it.

I've said before that Chomp always over-engineers things. They took it to the next level this season with a pneumatic walker bot. Good on them though for helping out Witch Doctor with cutting the latter's newly sourced steel slab for their weapon.

I don't think Chomp will make it to the round of 32. Despite Witch Doctor's weapon performance issues in the first matches, it seems to be working now and Andrea fills the slot for highlighting a female-led team.

Chomp would be an amazing bot if it was a simpler platform but kept the homing hammer.

Don't need magnets to hold it to the ground or a crappy walker system.

Walkers suck. Mechadon (beautiful bot) and pressure drop were not fun to watch. And shufflers don't really impress me.

What a waste of the weight bonus.

There's been literally one walker in robot combat history that was actually good and competitive, and that was Anarchy. In its only appearance in the original UK Robot Wars, Anarchy made it all the way to the Heat Final before losing to the robot that would go on to win the entire tournament, Tornado. If they were in a heat with a different seeded robot, Anarchy could have probably won the heat and moved onto one of the Semifinal heats.

But even then, Anarchy wasn't a true walker, and it would actually be considered a shuffler by the modern-day rules. There have been a few other good shufflers over the years, like Drillzilla and the original Son Of Whyachi, but still not many at all. Hell, even just by winning one single fight against a fairly low-tier opponent, Chomp already has a better resume than the majority of the walkers/shufflers in robot combat history.
