Weddings are a lot of work for the bride and groom. Can be exhausting even if they have help.

After our wedding, my wife and I went to our hotel room and passed out, and neither of us were drunk we were just fucking beat lol

I've only been to three weddings.

My sister's was awkward af because my side of the family has a lot of prudes but her husband basically came out of a trailer park, so his family and friends were absolute wild fucking animals at the wedding.

In the second wedding, I was the best man. A lot of the work behind setting up the wedding was put on me and the groomsmen/bridesmaids. It was alright but the before/after work was exhausting.

The third wedding was for a female friend of mine, and I was just a guest. That was the best one I've been to.

I can relate to this. Your involvement in the planning and execution of the wedding can determine the fun factor of the wedding. Outside of simply having a bad experience, being a part of the wedding can be stressful and exhausting. Whereas being a guest where you're only asked to show up and have a good time is about as good as it gets.

I hate formal settings and big crowds of people, so generally no.

The last wedding I went to was pretty cool, though. The amount and type of food available was insane. I think they spent at least $70K on the wedding, which is insane but whatever.

My wife and I eloped on the beach and basically had the ceremony at our honeymoon location, the photographer alone was like 60% of the wedding cost, lol

They can be good for getting to see people you haven't seen in a while, but other than that I think they're dumb. The "traditions" are more like cliches to me. Even the more informal stuff is so cliche, like they always gotta play Don't Stop Believin' and a bunch of other crap, every time. Or at least that's how weddings for white people go

The receptions are too much sitting around (maybe drinking if you're allowed to do so) or choosing to dance to the notoriously stupid dance music that is found at almost every damned party like a shared playlist. The wedding ceremony itself? You have a choice between a church doing nothing original (and having to wait what feels like an age and a half for the thing to get started), a beach where you can't even hear what the marriage officiant is saying over the waves, or a quiet park that more or less repeats the church but in a different setting.

I'm so done with that kind of wedding.

I got married in EPCOT and my wife came down the 'aisle' to the Final Fantasy VII prelude. All of the music during the ceremony was from game soundtracks, as was the majority of the music at our reception.

I've been to my last wedding. Everyone else in my immediate family doesn't plan on getting married and I wouldn't show up to anyone else's wedding if I got invited. Same with funerals, no one in my immediate family wants a funeral, we're not religious and have always regarded funerals as a waste of time.

I agree. If said reception has a open bar. I dont get tanked but I get a decent buzz going. I hate when they try to get all the single men to play some stupid game. I always insist on in a long distance relationship even if im not. Im not close enough to my family for them to pry much further than that

Same. I mean the ceremony is usually painfully boring, but the receptions are awesome. Open bar, typically very good food, partying with either family or close friends. I always look forward to them.

Sadly funerals are far more common in my family to the point they almost become party like cause our family rarely comes around each other.

It's like that for my family. We are spread out all of the country and the ones closer by my immediate family doesnt mind being around but they are close to other parts of the family my immediate family doesnt get along with. At funerals everyone puts that aside. But for weddings. Yeah causes some people to not get invited

That sounds similar to when my BFa grandma died. Idk if there were fist fights. But people were fighting over the stuff they thought had value. My BF just let them fight, and went to clean up and move the rest after they left.
