OU has also struggled in almost every game. Ohio State doesn't have a marquee win that matches Cincinnati's either but they're certainly getting the benefit of the doubt in a way OU isn't.

If TOSU or Michigan wins the Big Ten, they make it to the CFP. Whoever wins their matchup in two weeks is playing in the Big Ten Championship for that spot. Even though I'm a Badger fan, I don't see us making it to the CFP even if we pull off that upset, even though we've corrected a lot of the problems that plagued us earlier in the season (gotta work on reducing turnovers more, though).

Georgia is a shoe-in, barring a shocker. Bama is 100% making it with a single loss, but not if they lose again (unless it's a 3-point game against Georgia). Oregon and Cincy both have a shot too. One of those five is gonna be on the outside looking in.

The media loves the SEC and Alabama routing a team as elite as New Mexico State is part of the reason why.

Ohio State's offense is working overtime to prevent being "Purdue'd"
Ohio State's defense is hell bent on ensuring the team is "Purdue'd"

That defense will get them massacred eventually.

I mean... there's a reason why there's always a question whether Purdue or Purdon't will show up. And it seems like Purdue showed up against TOSU.

That score is insane.

I'm pretty sure Florida actually isn't happy about not winning a national title in 15 years

the only thing that will console them about this season is running Dan Mullen out of town at the end of it

This UGA/Tennessee game went about as I expected, unfortunately. We just aren't ready for a team of this caliber yet. Tennessee has been able to get a few big plays, but Georgia wasn't going to let us have any freebies. And when you can't consistently move the ball with a high tempo offense, it just leaves your defense on the field for too long, and our defense is practically depleted as it is.

I do think Heupel has the team moving in the right direction. He just needs another year or two to rebuild the talent.

This has always been a weird thing for me to think about because almost every school would kill to have OUs accomplishments in the last 15 years, but (using the AP poll era as a starting point 1939) we are in the middle of our longest championship drought right now.

This is also why I disagree with the takes that OU moving to the SEC makes it more difficult for us, as while we might not be a 10 win team as often, those times we have really great teams should be much more prepared for playoff games

Yeah, OU has been one of the most consistently successful programs this century (they've won or shared 14 conference titles, 15 top ten finishes, and literally have not won fewer than 8 games in any season since 2000), but they've almost become kind of a laughingstock because of underwhelming postseason performances. It's a weird space they occupy.

I think they'll do fine in the SEC, for what it's worth. Texas is the one I'd worry about.

How can Cinci compete with that high level of competition!

It's not like they have a win over a team currently ranked in the top 6 or something.

Butch Davis is quitting as the Florida International head coach and is blowtorching the school on the way out, saying the administration is sabotaging the program because they haven't been allowed to recruit on the road during the pandemic, and they haven't spent money to even update the team's uniforms or equipment in a decade.

If Bama lose to Georgia then they are gonna have to put in ND because they have a quality loss but Cinci don't.

Committee has to be rooting for Bama to beat Georgia so they can just not have to deal with Cinci

As a Big 10 fan the idea of having to update the uniform every decade is bizarre.

Iowa has only minimally changed their logo in my lifetime. Penn State hasnt even done that.

Obviously updating equipment is a different issue but to complain about having an old uniform design is so silly to me.

100% but UGA has looked clearly better than Bama against every common opponent they've shared so far. I guess Bama can outdo UGA against Arkansas this week but I wouldn't bet on it.

of course anything can happen in one game and UGA has lost two games against Bama in recent championship games despite barely trailing in either so who knows

He's the best possible candidate Miami could get. But they probably won't get him. At this point, Ole Miss is a better job than Miami.
