It started out really good then it got really weird. Bond dies.

It was better than Spectre at least. :|

A few things:

1) It wasnt better than Spectre IMO.

2) He had to die. Because his character is considered sinfully flawed in todays society. How dare he be somewhat of a player. They killed him off like they would a protagonist that has flaws seen as a no no. Think Scarface. The whole movie was about him but since he snorted a little stuff here and there the writers were like, We cant idolize this guy by letting him live. Wow. Think about that... in 2021, being too macho is the 1983 equivalent of snorting coke and being a drug lord. God damn.

3) Someone in here has me blocked or whatever.

I haven't watched it yet but I have a hard time imagining it being worse than Spectre. Even Quantum of Solace was better. Also killed because too macho in 2021? Lol. Craig's version wasn't that macho at all if anything he was too dry and serious. They might camp up the character next time since I'm expecting a reboot.

He did when Vesper wouldnt allow him to buy back into the poker game to capture Le Chifre.

Learn your Bond and stop proving DBS correct.

I honestly wouldn't mind some more bond movies with that Brosnan-esque cheese. He had some fun movies. Super serious bond was cool but I could go for some more fun-having, womanizing bond

They're just gonna reboot it with a new actor.

I have no idea whether or not he's a racist, but apparently there are recordings of him using racial slurs so it's a distinct possibility.

I cannot say I am a James Bond "expert" but based on the films I have watched, I wanna say Connery and Moore had the more charismatic / womanzier / macho man feel to them and will agree Craig's depiction of Bond seemed more serious. Not that I minded though as the change of pace between Craig's Bond and the earlier Bonds was refreshing for me. I did watch Craig's series in a weird order though. Skyfall > Casino Royale > Quantum of Solace and I thought it at least made some sense after what happened in Casino Royal.

Brosnan was great, but Roger Moore-era goofiness was even better at times. Live and Let Die is still easily my favorite Bond flick, beating out Goldeneye.

Also, I haven't looked into this at all. But I feel like the whole nanobots thing was originally a virus, but then Covid happened and they changed it.

I only watched Spectre the once but I didn't hate it. Apparently I'm basically alone in that.

Are there people that think the movie ends the way that it does because Bond is not politically correct rather than simply retiring the Craig version of the character? If Bond were getting cancelled they wouldn't have announced that they're casting a new guy already.

As for the actual movie, the villain's complete lack of motivation sapped a lot of my interest. He achieves his goal halfway through the movie and then just has absolutely no reason to continue his project but just...does? The idea was that he would just give the nanomachines/virus to whoever paid for them, right? But he has no reason to want to do that, no reason to be proud that he's "making the world tidier", and no real reason to want to torture Bond other than being mad that Madeline loves him, I guess.

Ana de Armas (and the whole Cuba sequence, in general) was the best part of the movie. If they had've played her entirely as the "Oh god you think I'm going to sleep with you, old man?" foil it would've been kinda lame but she was charming and pulled off the action very well. For someone that has yet to land a big leading role (or maybe Knives Out is a bigger movie than I feel like it is?) she's been in a lot of good stuff.

Knives Out was a mega-hit. The box office wasn't huge, but it had some critical acclaim and is very heavily referenced in places.

People get their panties in a twist over characters dying constantly, it's ridiculous. All that matters is whether the death was well-executed in the piece, not what you imagine the creators' "agenda" was in order to justify your sad and angry feels at the character's death.
