The Elysium unique NPC can give you back all of your death defiances; that's saved many a run of mine!

I remember when Elysium felt absolutely impossible. Good times.

I think you do get a Hammer upgrade on your first couple screens there, which helps a lot.

Playing through with the sword and right away got the cursed slash, that reduces my total health by 60% but heals 2HP with each attack

It made Tisiphone brutally hard but made the bone hydra a breeze; walked away still at full health.

Now I don't have any death defies though so fingers crossed for something good in elysium

Butterfly ball is probably the encounter in the game which becomes most simplified over time. It's almost impossible to do enough DPS and avoid getting overwhelmed at the start but by the lategame you're usually going to kill it before it spawns more than one soul and without taking any damage.

Drawing Tisiphone as the Fury is bad luck. Meg's easy and Alecto can be walked into traps until she dies, Tisiphone's just a pain in the ass

got the closest yet to beating Theseus and the Minotaur. They were both almost dead but Theseus' full-screen Poseidon attacks fucked me pretty hard

Yeah, don't bring both to almost dead. Take the bull out before you have to deal with the god attacks

Went in with 290 max health and 4 death defies. Ended the fight with 35 hp and no defies left.

I usually cheese his ass with casts to avoid that. He can't block Dionysus/Artemis/Ares

I didn't last long in Styx, unsurprisingly

Nearing the end of what is by far my easiest run yet. Defeated Theseus having lost only one revive, and by that point I had $1000 and could easily buy the refill

Just "defeated" Cerberus for the first time after breezing through those hallways like they were nothing

Turns out flurry shot + chain shot + divine strike is op as hell

Congratulations! I don't think I've ever tried a Flurry Shot build, so this topic kinda makes me want to pick the game back up just to see what all the hype is about.

It's honestly ridiculous. I don't care for now at all without it but with it is insane

You beat me by one!

I think it took me around 15, but it was also a flurry + chain shot. I feel like you could win around run 5 with that combo.

I don't think I beat Hades until attempt 38, and it mostly wasn't even him, it was getting the hang of Styx without losing all my death defies to poison nonsense

My first victory was attempt 19, but it was very close to being attempt 5 (Hades 2nd form at half health). My previous pb as of the 4th attempt was halfway though asphodel, so along the way was the defeat of both Lernie and the Heroes my first time seeing them. Triple Jab + Extending Jab is just XD

I know people are gonna say 'yeah, right' so here is proof

It's very possible to get to Hades early but killing him is nigh-impossible without mirror upgrades or before Daedalus/call/trinket unlocks. I got to him run #1 from a fresh save (having played hundreds of hours and having been speedrunning for a while before trying that, admittedly), but you kinda just get a six/seven minute fight which you have to play near perfectly because he has so much damn health.
