That tweet takes the "one-off, well-designed" waaayy out of context, as if to say that a game that is enjoyed for a long time can't be well-designed. If you look in the article, that's not at all what he says.

"Of course, we would like to cherish and create small but brilliantly conceived games such as Sol Cresta, and games in which you can enjoy the process of clearing the game by going through one-off, well-designed stages, such as Bayonetta."

...The very next line of the article says that they will be going in a different direction than those types of games. So yes, exactly what the blurb said.

And considering their next game is a long term service game focused on multiplayer that just looks embrassingly awful...!.

I guess we can hope that Babylon's Fall tanks horrifically and Platinum is forced to pivot.

Pretty sure this is mostly referring to Platinum's next game going the live-service route. Ugh.

Maybe they could get MS to fund them again and then funnel that money into making another game for SE and then come out and talk shit about MS demanding them to meet deadlines

I read the quote as saying they'll keep doing the regular stuff like Bayo but will be trying live service for their future IPs like Project GG. Maybe I'm being too optimistic with that reading.

Anyway Astral Chain is good and Nier Auto is fantastic

we'll see if they stick to this once babylon's fall is a disaster

This. And also what andy said. The tweet makes it sound like they're overtly trying to make bad games, if they're being juxtaposed against "well-designed titles," which isn't at all what was said. It's a sensationalist misquote, plain and simple, regardless of what else might be at work in the story.

Also seems like a translation issue, which adds to the "this sounds like hyperbolic bullshit" nature of this tweet.
