I do.

It's the next best method after grilling, and if I'm just making hot dogs, it's not worth using a grill.

Unless you are cooking a corned beef or salt pork, meat should never be boiled.

Japan boils some meats in water for prep for certain dishes. It must kill half the flavor, but they infuse the product by adding stuff to it as a part of another dish usually.

Lots of Asian countries have boiled meat, but of course it's boiled in broth or seasoned water where the extracted meat juices are incorporated into the soup. That's kinda nice. Kinda like beef stew.

Speaking of stew, that's probably our most compatible nomenclature. To stew a meat. We just don't have many varieties of stewing that I've seen served here commonly. Usually all foreign stuff. Vietnamese are great at it.

Yea, you "boil" a pot roast or stew beef, but you brown it first and use cooking liquids to enhance the flavor. That is essentially the opposite of what you are doing with corned beef and salt pork where you are boiling it to remove flavor (specifically the salt) and use it to flavor other things.

I used to boil hit dogs in the 80s and 90s. Then I got really sick, ate boiled hit dogs and threw them all up. I nearly puke every time I smell a boiled hitdog anymore.

Steamed hot dogs and buns are the best, IMO.

You reminded me I needed some good Smithfield Salt Pork. I use it for vegetable soup. Thank you. I've forgotten to buy it like 3 weeks in a row.

Yeah that works. I think boiling them just makes them more plump. Maybe it's just the absorbed water, but I like them bigger.

I use one of those George Foreman-type "grills", or the toaster oven

I don't have a charcoal grill anymore but that's the best way to cook hot dogs

I usually just heat them in the microwave, unless grilled dogs are available. but where I work, we bake them in an oven for about 5 minutes

Oh yeah grilled is my favorite. When I lived in New York, one of my neighbors would go out side and grill in his shorts and no shirt when it was cold a fuck outside. Dude made the best hotdogs. Burn marks all over them, but good. We met because his daughter came up my car thinking it was him coming home. We had the same beige Explorer. His was missing the front left center wheel guard. I remember looking up the parts cost and the dudes wanted $79 for a small circle of plastic. Blew my mind.
