6-4 is part of the reason why I'm giving it a 10. great case

Has some obvious shortcomings, but its strengths are so overwhelming that they hardly matter to me.

6-4 is filler and an unnecessary inclusion of Nahyuta - his shtick was getting very tiring by that point and he's the biggest reason why I'm a bit lower on it than other people.

Both parts of 6-5 are fantastic and are a 10 by themselves but getting there is kind of a slog at times... and I'm not including the DLC case here.

It has genuinely one of the biggest holy shit moments I've ever experienced in a game. It also has Nahyuta getting in the way and being shitty all the time

Probably the best of the sequel trilogy, but ultimately it gets the same grade.

Never played the dlc, gonna give it an 8 but there's a part of me screaming that I'm being way too generous with it. Everything relating to Apollo in this game was just so good.

Yet another reminder that I need to force myself to play Apollo Justice so I can enjoy PW5 and PW6 to the fullest

I managed SoJ just fine without having played AJ.

AFAIK Apollo gets significantly more character development in SoJ than in the game named for him.

nah, disagree with this. It's best to play the games in order.

Yeah, I'll never suggest skipping a game in a storyline heavy series, but if worse comes to worst and you can't stomach AJ, then get to the good stuff.

Yeah I'm not pushing to skip it, just saying that you wouldn't be missing much if you did IMO

One amazing case, 5 cases that range from bad to mediocre. Nahyuta on his own tanks the score a point or two.

nahyuta is over-hated, but there's no denying he's not stronger than any other mainline prosecutor except maybe klavier

Pacing is a little all over the place otherwise a fantastic AA story overall.

Some great cases, but the Khu'rain and non-Khu'rain parts kinda feel a bit disjointed, and Sadhmadhi is not a fun main opponent.

What I might do is give AJ's first couple cases a shot. I hear the game gets worse as it goes, so if they first couple don't impress me, I'll jump to DD and SoJ.

I do want to get a grasp for Apollo's character at least, so even if I soak up his characterization early on in AJ, that will give me something to work with.

AJ is absolutely not as bad as how the fanbase makes it out to be and is well worth playing through at least once. It is the weakest game in the mainline series but not by a gulf between it and the rest of the games. 4-2 and 4-3 are very weak cases but 4-1 and even as flawed as 4-4 is, are entertaining enough for at least a first playthrough. If you can get through a case like 2-3 and something with horrible pacing like 1-5, you'll be fine here.

I find AJ to be at least better than Ace Attorney Investigations 1 and Layton vs. Phoenix.
