Honestly, Id be surprised if the thought hadnt crossed their minds. I think Im a pretty reasonably attractive guy, and I havent dated a chick since high school. If they dont suspect a thing, I think theyre morons.

Im dreading how this is going to change some family dynamics. One aunt in particular has a huge chip on her shoulder about gay [anything] and two cousins in particular drank that alt-right koolaid and are really into that traditional values shit (neither of them have steady employment, so its not like theyre fulfilling their roles either, but their mindset is really just gay people deserve to die

Just do it. Everyone I know that did it struggled with it constantly, but couldn't be happier afterwards. It didn't necessarily start off smooth, but holding stuff like that in tends to wear on you. If some people cant accept it, too bad. That just saves you from spending time with them and putting up a front to appease people that don't know, or care to know who you really are

Speaking as a straight guy who will never actually have to suffer any sort of loss along these lines and whose opinion you can therefore take with several shovelfuls of salt, anyone who won't accept you coming out to them isn't worth trying to keep in your life in the first place. You've got friends who care about you just the way you are. Don't bend over backwards for the sake of maintaining relationships with those who won't.

That is just good life advice in general and something I had to actively learn as I grew up.

I can understand that you're concerned how your parents might react, because naturally, you're going to hope that your parents would continue to love you no matter what. But if you believe your parents will continue to love you, I don't think you need to worry quite so much about what aunts or cousins might think.

Life is too short to live your life trying to please others. Just be yourself.

I think thats my problem. Im always so concerned with what others think of me that I try to people please in my day to day life to a fault.

I mean, I had 3 days off in March and worked myself sick because I couldnt say anything at all.
