Halfway through the 2nd round, and 5/8 done overall

Updated Bracket: https://challonge.com/kvn2mn0e

The BuckNut Region

2) Ohio State vs 130) UC Davis
63) Arizona vs 191) NC Central
162) Western Carolina vs 223) Davidson
31) Florida vs 98) Rice

Uh oh, Florida as a 2-seed didn't age well

---

2) Ohio State vs 130) UC Davis

3 straight punts to open the game, then UC Davis opens the scoring with a chip-shot field goal. OSU comes down into the UC Davis redzone but stalls, settling for a game-tying 31-yard Fielding goal. Then somehow Ohio State turned into Iowa:

-UC Davis 3 & out PUNT
-Ohio State INTERCEPTED
-UC Davis 3 & out PUNT
-Ohio State PUNT (1 first down)
-UC Davis PUNT (2 first downs)

Then finally OSU takes the lead just before halftime, with a 2nd Jayden Fielding kick (49 yards). Buckeyes only up 6-3 at the break.

UC Davis's Hunter Ridley matches Fielding with his 2nd kick of the game - a 48-yarder to tie it at 6 early in the 2nd half. Finally Ohio State puts together a complete drive, going 80 yards in 10 plays and into the endzone on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Kyle McCord to DeaMonte Trayanum, 13-6 Buck Nuts. The teams trade 3 & outs before Ridley knocks through a 3rd field goal to cut the lead to 4, this time from 46 yards away. Next 3 possessions:

-Ohio State 3 & out PUNT
-UC Davis 3 & out PUNT
-Ohio State 3 & out PUNT

The Aggies again get into Ridley's range on their next possession, and he bangs through a 41-yarder, 4-for-4 on the day now, and the Buckeyes are only up 1 with 5 minutes left. Fortunately for them, they find some consistency in their offense when they needed it most, going 41 yards in 9 plays, burning most of the clock in the process. They punt rather than sending out Fielding for a 56-yard attempt, and with only 20 seconds to go, UC Davis doesn't get very far.

2) Ohio State 13, 130) UC Davis 12
Ohio State - 3 | 3 | 7 | 0
UC Davis - 3 | 0 | 3 | 6

Lol wtf. If only Ridley had gotten one more crack. Extremely quiet day for Marvin Harrison Jr - 2 catches for 17 yards. BUT, at least they actually won, unlike many top FBS teams.

63) Arizona 38, 191) NC Central 10
Arizona - 14 | 10 | 7 | 7
NC Central - 7 | 3 | 0 | 0

Noah Fifita (AZ) - 23/36 passing, 381 yards, 4 TDs
Tanner McLachlan (AZ) - 9 catches, 157 yards, 1 TD
Jonah Coleman (AZ) - 8 carries, 59 yards; 2 catches, 20 yards, 2 TDs

NC Central scores a touchdown on the game's opening drive: Arizona scores 17 straight points
NC Central gets a field goal to get within a touchdown: Zona scores 21 straight

162) Western Carolina vs 223) Davidson

Couple of solid 7-4 FCS teams who just missed the playoffs (Davidson lost to D2 Barton College earlier in the year, then rebounded with 7 straight wins)

The teams trade punts to start the game, but Davidson is able to move the ball a ways while Western Carolina goes 3 & out. This sets up Davidson at the Catamount 40, and they find the endzone 3 plays later, on a 13-yard Coulter Cleland pass to Brody Reina, 7-0 Wildcats. Four straight punts later, West Carolina gets good field position of their own close to midfield. They stall after getting inside the Davidson 30, however, and settle for a 41-yard Richard McCollum kick. Fast forward another 4 punts and it's halftime, 7-3 Davidson.

The Wildcats put together a long drive to start the 2nd half, stalling inside the West Carolina 10 but pushing the lead back to 7 with a chip-shot FG. The teams trade punts again before the Catamounts march down 75 yards in 11 plays, reaching the endzone on a short pass from Cole Gonzales to Censere Lee to tie the game, 10-all. The Wildcats pick up one first down the following drive, but on 2nd & 11 Cleland is picked off, setting up WCU with a short field. They take advantage with another Gonzales TD pass 3 plays later, 17-10. Davidson answers with clutch 11-play 80-yard TD drive to tie the game (11-yard Mason Sheron rushing TD) at 17-17. With only a few minutes remaining, the Catamounts are forced to punt after picking up just one 1st down. Davidson is able to move the ball, but they're a bittoo casual about it, and time expires in regulation right as they reach field goal range.

Davidson starts with the ball in overtime. The Catamount defense holds strong, forcing a 3-&-out field goal by Adam Zouagui from 34-yards away, leaving the door open for West Carolina to win it. Facing 2nd & 4, WCU sends in their mobile back-up QB Brody Pathegyi, who had taken only one snap all game - a run for no gain. This time, however..............

162) Western Carolina 23, 223) Davidson 20 (OT)
Western Carolina - 0 | 3 | 7 | 7 || 6
Davidson - 7 | 0 | 3 | 7 || 3

he takes off 29 yards for the walk-off TD

What a legend - was in for one play in the first half, that went nowhere, then comes in in crunch time and scores the game-winner on the longest run from scrimmage by either team. Catamounts to the Round of 64 where they'll face............

31) Florida 27, 98) Rice 14
Florida - 7 | 6 | 7 | 7
Rice - 0 | 0 | 0 | 14

Not nearly as close as the final score would suggest - Florida was up 27-0 with 7 minutes left

and now the How-Is-K-State-a-1-Seed Region, where K-State appropriately became the first 1-seed to lose (9/9 1-seeds above K-State in the bracket are in the Round of 64)

143) Jacksonville State vs 242) Sacred Heart
79) Virginia Tech vs 207) Lafayette
47) Tulane vs 82) Wyoming
18) Utah vs 146) Austin Peay

143) Jacksonville State 30, 242) Sacred Heart 17
Jacksonville State - 10 | 10 | 7 | 3
Sacred Heart - 3 | 14 | 0 | 0

Sacred Heart was right there with the Fighting Rich Rods in the 1st half.....but you have to play 60 minutes of football if you want to be champion

79) Virginia Tech vs 207) Lafayette

The Hokies reach the endzone on the game's opening drive, going 80 yards in 11 plays, then add on a field goal after forcing Lafayette to punt, 10-0 VT after 1. Lafayette gets a little farther on their next drive, just getting into Tech territory before punting, but after forcing a VT 3 & out, they get on the board with a 45-yard field goal, 10-3. The Hokies appear to separate themselves just before half, with a 4-yard Kyron Drones TD pass to Da'Quan Felton to cap off a 65-yard drive, but Lafayette quarterback Dean DeNobile hits Chris Carasia for an 80-yard touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage in the 2nd half, 17-10. Both offenses go completely lifeless from there, until Lafayette RB Jamar Curtis busts out for a 15-yard touchdown run to tie the game late in the 4th quarter and force overtime.

Lafayette starts with the ball in the extra session - they go a whole zero yards in 3 plays and kick a 42-yard field goal. Virginia Tech picks up a first down, but then faces a 3rd & 10 from the 11 after 2 incompletions. It's practically 3rd & goal, so it's pretty much score a TD here or force double overtime........Kyron Drones finds Jaylin Lane in the endzone, and everyone does the Hokie Pokie.

79) Virginia Tech 23, 207) Lafayette 20 (OT)
Virginia Tech - 10 | 7 | 0 | 0 || 6
Lafayette - 0 | 3 | 7 | 7 || 3

47) Tulane 24, 82) Wyoming 14
Tulane - 21 | 3 | 0 | 0
Wyoming - 0 | 7 | 0 | 7

Chris Brazzell II (Tulane) - 4 catches, 83 yards, 3 TDs

A huge 1st quarter was all the Green Wave needed. Solid season for both teams.

146) Austin Peay 41, 18) Utah 30
Austin Peay - 14 | 7 | 6 | 14
Utah - 7 | 10 | 3 | 10

Jaden Barnes (AP) - 4 catches, 126 yards, 2 TDs

FCS power still set to 11/10. Utah QB Bryson Barnes threw 2 interceptions inside his own 35, and both times Austin Peay reached the endzone 3 plays later. The Utes cut the lead to 4 with a couple minutes left, but Mike Diliello immediately completed a 78-yard TD pass to Jaden Barnes for the Governors to squash any hopes of a comeback.

Austin Peay did go undefeated in their conference and made the FCS playoffs >_>

Happy Valley Region

7) Penn State vs 135) Holy Cross
58) Pittsburgh vs 186) Portland State
39) Boise State vs 167) Abilene Christian
103) Florida Atlantic vs 231) Lehigh

Penn State the last remaining team to not have a game simulated yet

135) Holy Cross 24, 7) Penn State 9
Holy Cross - 7 | 7 | 3 | 7
Penn State - 6 | 0 | 0 | 3

Matthew Sluka (Holy) - 11/23 passing, 162 yards, 2 TDs; 20 carries for 107 yards

Oh NO, Penn State was rusty from not playing this whole time ......\_()_/ Their last real-life game was against Michigan State, so not much prep from that either. Let Sluka run all over them. We're down to 11/16 1-seeds remaining.

58) Pittsburgh vs 186) Portland State

Portland State quarterback Dante Chachere is picked off around midfield leading to a Panther field goal, and after a Viking 3-and-out, Pittsburgh makes it 10-0 on a 60-yard drive spearheaded by a 58-yard pass from Christian Veilleux to Jerrod Means. Chachere is picked off again midway through the 2nd quarter, but this time Pitt kicker Ben Sauls hooks a 40-yarder wide. The Vikings make the most of their ensuing possession, moving the ball 77 yards and into the endzone, converting 3 third downs along the way, 10-7 at halftime.

Portland State doubles their score to start the 2nd half, on a 3-yard rush by Delon Thompson to cap off an 8-play 66-yard drive, and the Vikings have a 14-10 lead. Pittsburgh crosses midfield on their next possession, but Veilleux is picked off before they can get into field goal range. Portland St turns around and converts their first field goal attempt of the game early in the 4th quarter, 17-10. Pitt chooses an opportune time to put together their best drive of the game - 11 plays, 80 yards, ending with a short TD pass from Veilleux to Malcolm Epps, tie game halfway through the 4th. Pitt has a chance to win it with time running out, but Veilleux throws a brutal interception on 3rd down when the Panthers were already in FG range and could have gone for a ~40 yarder for the win. Instead, we go to overtime - this time Pitt has to settle for a 39-yard kick on 4th & 10, mostly due to 2 false starts. Chachere finds WR Eric Denham for a 25-yard touchdown on Portland State's first play.

186) Portland State 23, 58) Pittsburgh 20 (OT)
Portland State - 0 | 7 | 7 | 3 || 6
Pittsburgh - 10 | 0 | 0 | 7 || 3

FCS power still set to 11/10

Pitt snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Definitely should not be losing to an FCS team when you have a 10-point lead......at *any* point. To be fair, they are also terrible in real life.

39) Boise State 24, 167) Abilene Christian 14
Boise State - 0 | 17 | 0 | 7 |
Abilene Christian - 0 | 0 | 0 | 14

Ashton Jeanty (Boise) - 16 carries, 72 yards, 1 TD; 6 catches, 139 yards

A big 2nd quarter propels the Mountain West champs into the Round of 64. They're now the clear favorite to come out of this region.

103) Florida Atlantic vs 231) Lehigh

Lehigh jumps out to a 10-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter, but FAU finds the endzone late in the 1st half, then ties it with a FG just after halftime, in part thanks to a Lehigh interception near midfield. Lehigh regains the lead on their next drive with a 43-yard kick by Nick Garrido, but Garrido misses a 40-yarder the drive after that which could have pushed the lead to 6. FAU takes advantage and ties the game on a 48-yarder from Carter Davis, 13-13. Lehigh only gets 1 first down before they have to punt with about 5 minutes left in the game. FAU gets several chunk plays, putting together a 78-yard game-winning touchdown drive, capped off by a 13-yard pass from QB Daniel Richardson to Tony Johnson. They leave Lehigh's offense with only 15 seconds to tie it, and they barely go anywhere.

103) Florida Atlantic 20, 231) Lehigh 13
FAU - 0 | 7 | 3 | 10
Lehigh - 7 | 3 | 3 | 0

LaJohntay Wester (FAU) - 11 catches, 150 yards, 1 TD

The Owls avoid losing to the 2-9 Mountain Hawks

^^^

they'd better expand it to 261 teams to avoid any future controversy tbh

The Bayou Bengal Region:

10) LSU vs 119) North Texas
55) Appalachian State vs 74) UTSA
42) Minnesota vs 87) Army
23) North Carolina vs 106) UNLV

Well UNLV was a little low. LSU actually almost clawed their way back up to 10th. This and Oklahoma's region are the only ones with no upsets, we'll see if that holds up in the 2nd round....

10) LSU 41, 119) North Texas 27
LSU - 14 | 10 | 7 | 10
North Texas - 10 | 3 | 7 | 7

Jayden Daniels (LSU) - 30/40 passing, 437 yards, 5 TDs, 1 INT; 11 carries for 105 yards
Ayo Adeyi (UNT) - 13 carries, 161 yards, 1 TD

Same exact score they beat Texas Southern by. The Mean Green hung in as well as they could, but never had the lead, and LSU was up 3 TDs with just a couple minutes left.

Average day at the office for Daniels - had over twice as many yards as their 2nd-leading rusher

55) Appalachian State vs 74) UTSA

2 solid teams with 2 solid mascots

App State makes it to the UTSA 25 on the opening drive, but Michael Hughes hooks a 42-yard field goal. Chase Allen shows 'im how it's done on UTSA's first drive, knocking through a 49-yarder, then after an App State punt, he hits a chip shot to make it 6-0 Roadrunners. Hughes' next kick is true from 28 yards to cut the lead in half after 1 quarter, and the Mountaineers are the first to reach the endzone on a 58-yard drive capped off by a 12-yard pass from Joey Aguilar to Eli Wilson, 10-6 App St. Allen makes it a hat trick with a 30-yarder on UTSA's next drive, 10-9 at the half.

App St puts together a 14-play drive midway through the 3rd quarter, starting from their own 9, but have to settle for another Hughes field goal on 4th-and-6 from the 11. The Mountaineers deliver a crushing blow right as the 3rd quarter ends, with another TD pass from Aguilar, this time to Christian Horn, 20-9 with 15 minutes to go. UTSA needs a big play, and it's provided by Chris Carpenter in the form of a 57-yard punt return that sets the Roadrunners up at the App St 27. Three plays later, Frank Harris finds Joshua Cephus on a short touchdown pass to cut the lead to 4. Aguilar is then picked off on the 2nd play of App St's next drive, but UTSA is unable to move the chains. They opt for a 41-yard kick by Allen, but he picks an unfortunate time for his first miss of the game. UTSA gets a couple more possessions, but can't get past midfield.

55) Appalachian State 20, 74) UTSA 16
App St - 3 | 7 | 10 | 0
UTSA - 6 | 3 | 0 | 7

App State's redzone offense was *slightly* less terrible. Decent, close game, as I imagine it would be irl.

oh NOOOOOOOOOO I was too slow, the sim just now started removing transfer portal players lol. This is even MORE of a shitshow now!

42) Minnesota vs 87) Army

The Gophers get on the board first after forcing Army to punt, with a 24-yard TD pass from Cole Kramer to Daniel Jackson. QB Bryson Daily throws an interception on Army's next possession (that's what they get for attempting a pass), and steel-legged Dragan Kesich nails a 49-yard field goal 4 plays later, 10-0 Minnesota. Kramer is then intercepted on the Gophers' next possession, but Army kicker Cole Talley ain't no Kesich, and he badly misses a 43-yard FG attempt, still 10-0 Gophers after 1. Minnesota gets a short field after a Black Knight 3-and-out, and they convert a couple 3rd downs leading to a 10-yard Jordan Nubin run into the endzone, 17-0.

Army puts in short-distance kicker Quinn Maretzki, who hits a field goal to end the 1st half, and to start the 2nd, from 30 & 33 yards. Kesich hits his 2nd from 33 yards to make it a 2-touchdown lead again, 20-6 Minny. The Gopher D forces another 3-and-out, and Jordan Nubin takes off on the first play of their next possession for a 46-yard touchdown run. Army probably doesn't have the offense to catch up at this point, 27-6. Kesich is just showing off at this point and hits a 50-yarder to make it 30-6. Army puts together *one* classic, power-running, 80-yard touchdown drive, but that's all their offense had left in the tank. Minnesota scores one more TD on an equally impressive 80-yard, 14-play touchdown drive of their own in which Nubin got his 3rd rushing TD, concluding the game's scoring.

42) Minnesota 37, 87) Army 13
Minnesota - 10 | 7 | 13 | 7
Army - 0 | 3 | 3 | 7

Jordan Nubin (Minn) - 27 carries, 143 yards, 3 TDs

Minnesota rolls despite the sim removing 9 transferring players: Dino (and Athan) Kaliakmanis, Tyrell Lawrence, Drew Viotto, Marquese Williams, Max Grand, Zach Evans, Jacob Lewis, and JJ Guedet. Army apparently has no one transferring, or the sim hasn't accounted for all school's transfers.........yet........

23) North Carolina 45, 106) UNLV 20
UNC - 14 | 24 | 0 | 7
UNLV - 10 | 7 | 3 | 0

Drake Maye (UNC) - 25/40 passing, 365 yards, 5 TDs, 2 INTs; 12 carries, 79 yards
JJ Jones (UNC) - 8 catches, 146 yards, 1 TD
Kobe Paysour (UNC) - 6 catches, 140 yards, 1 TD

Oh my god - 18 North Carolina players gone to the portal, and they still win easily lol.........so far it looks like teams are dropping dead weight. UNLV only had 3 transfers out.

Also, famous UNC basketball player Michael Jordan wore #23 (UNC's rank) most of his career, but after his 1st "retirement", wore #45 (UNC's point total) for a while

Roll Tide(?) Region

254) Morehead State vs 126) Incarnate Word
62) Toledo vs 67) Purdue
35) Arkansas vs 163) Missouri State
30) Texas Tech vs 99) Georgia Southern

---

126) Incarnate Word 27, 254) Morehead State 3
Incarnate Word - 10 | 3 | 14 | 0
Morehead State - 0 | 0 | 0 | 3

Not surprisingly, there was nothing left in the tank for Morehead after they bent the laws of reality to knock out Bama

62) Toledo vs 67) Purdue

Purdue moves the ball just inside the Toledo 40 on their opening drive, but wusses out and boots it into the endzone for a 17 (net) yard punt. Jacquez Stuart tears off a 47-yard run on Toledo's first play on offense, eventually setting up a 20-yard touchdown pass from Tucker Gleason (previously-starting QB Dequan Finn transferred to Baylor) to Larry Stephens, 7-0 to the MAC regular season champs. Devin Maddox is next up to make a big play for the Rockets, fielding a punt at his own 35 and returning it almost to where Purdue punted from. Stuart eventually punches it in at the goal line to make it 14-0 Toledo after a quarter. The Boilermakers continue to struggle on offense, making it almost to the Toledo 30 on their next drive, but missing a 48-yard FG attempt. The Rockets keep their foot on the gas, immediately moving the ball 69 yards in 11 plays to make it a 21-0 lead. Third time's the charm for kicker Ben Freehill, who finally knocks through a 34-yarder after missing his 2nd attempt from 46 yards. Boilers get on the board just before halftime, 21-3.

Both offensives come out of the locker room completely lifeless - finally Purdue makes it to the Rocket 15, but Freehill misses his 3rd FG of the game, as the 3rd quarter finishes scoreless. The Boilers pin Toledo inside their own 5, and get excellent field position after forcing a 3-and-out. Hudson Card finds Deion Burks on Purdue's first play of the drive, for a 37-yard touchdown pass, 21-10 Rockets. Toledo gets inside the Purdue 25, but Gleason is picked off to keep the game barely in reach for the Boilers. They move down the field methodically, eating up a lot of clock but eventually punching it into the endzone to make it just a 4-point game with 8 minutes to go. They force a Toledo punt, and get back into field goal range - they opt to try their luck with a different kicker this time since Freehill is 1/4. Julio Macias trots out onto the field and......his kick is blocked with only 3 minutes remaining. Toledo regains possession and doesn't give it back up.

62) Toledo 21, 67) Purdue 17
Toledo - 14 | 7 | 0 | 0
Purdue - 0 | 3 | 0 | 14

Uhhhhhhh........I would say nice comeback attempt by Purdue, but........they really should have won the game, and probably would have if they had anyone who could kick half-decent, or just went for it every time.

35) Arkansas vs 163) Missouri State

A big punt return for the Razorbacks sets up a 17-yard touchdown run for Dominique Johnson, but Missouri State immediately answers with a quick 8-play, 80-yard drive, capped off by an 18-yard TD pass from Jordan Pachot to Jacardia Wright, 7-7. The Arkansas offense stays hot and also puts together an 80-yard TD drive, in only 7 plays, ending with an 18-yard Jaedon Wilson TD catch from KJ Jefferson. The Razorbacks add on two more field goals before halftime, 20-7.

The Bear offense gets going again in the 3rd quarter, cutting the lead to 6 with a short 6-play, 50-yard drive. The Missouri State offense becomes even more efficient after an Arkansas 3-and-out, quickly going 55 yards in 4 plays, with Pachot finding his 3rd different endzone target in Raylen Sharpe, and suddenly Arkansas is down 1. The Razorbacks put together a 12-play drive, but opt to punt from the Missouri State 39 on 4th & 3 - very high on the surrender index. Da Bears make them pay for it, going 80 yards in 7 plays, pushing the lead to 8 with another Jacardia Wright touchdown catch, 28-20 with 8 minutes left. Arkansas then puts together a major power drive, going 80 yards and converting 5 3rd downs, the last one a KJ Jefferson touchdown pass to Isaiah Sategna. They should definitely go for 2, but that's too difficult to implement I guess, 28-27. The Razorbacks force a 3-and-out, but only have 5 seconds left when they get the ball back at their own 39 - KJ Jefferson's hail mary attempt is batted down.

163) Missouri State 28, 35) Arkansas 27
Missouri State - 7 | 0 | 14 | 7
Arkansas - 14 | 6 | 0 | 7

Jordan Pachot (MO St) - 22/29 passing, 286 yards, 4 TDs
KJ Jefferson (Ark) - 15/24 passing, 253 yards, 2 TDs; 17 carries for 50 yards

Lol this sim is so jank but I kinda like it anyway cuz I'm a sicko. Missouri State wins despite only 45 total rushing yards.

I've been in hardcore vacation mode but I'll sim a game to keep this alive

30) Texas Tech 30, 99) Georgia Southern 6
Texas Tech - 10 | 10 | 7 | 3
Georgia Southern - 0 | 0 | 6 | 0

Tahj Brooks (TTU) - 20 carries, 169 yards, 1 TD; 6 catches, 54 yards

...or 2 I guess, since that one was easy

---

The Mid-Tier SEC Region

142) SE Missouri State vs 243) Georgetown
51) Michigan State vs 179) Florida A&M
46) South Dakota State vs 174) Tarleton State
19) Tennessee vs 110) Virginia

142) SE Missouri State vs 243) Georgetown

Both teams are able to move the ball right from kickoff, but both have to punt around midfield. Georgetown finds pay dirt on their 2nd possession, set up by a 79-yard pass from Tyler Knoop to Isaiah Grimes (or Grimey as he likes to be called). After another OK start to their drive, SE MO St are forced to punt around midfield again, leading to a 36-yard Patrick Ryan field goal, 10-0 Hoyas. It's looking like the Redhawks will head into the locker room scoreless, but Knoop throws an interception deep in his own territory, leading to a 12-yard touchdown pass for SE Missouri the very next play, 10-7 at the break.

Georgetown pushes the lead back to 10 right out of halftime after going 80 yards in 9 plays, 17-7. The Redhawks put together a 14-play drive, getting inside the Georgetown 10, but have to settle for a DC Pippin field goal, 17-10. The Southeast Missouri defense gets a quick stop, followed by another, longer Pippin FG from 48 yards, 17-13 early in the 4th quarter. The teams trade 3 & outs, then Knoop throws another costly interception in his own territory, giving the Redhawks the ball inside the 35. Three plays later, Paxton DeLaurent finds Ryan Flournoy in the endzone for a 28-yard score, and SE MO State has their first lead of the game at a great time. Pippin adds on one more field goal, and Georgetown fails to get past their own 40 on their final drive.

142) SE Missouri State 23, 243) Georgetown 17
SE MO State - 0 | 7 | 3 | 13
Georgetown - 7 | 3 | 7 | 0

Tough for the Hoyas - outgaining the Redhawk offense by almost 100 yards - but the 2 turnovers in their own territory were killer. Almost our first 16-seed to win a 2nd game.

179) Florida A&M 27, 51) Michigan State 3
FAMU - 3 | 7 | 3 | 14
MSU - 0 | 3 | 0 | 0

Marcus Riley (FAMU) - 2 catches, 116 yards, 1 TD; 1 carry, 7 yards, 1 TD

Lol. Florida A&M red-hot after their Celebration Bowl win, they can't be stopped. Katin Houser completed passes to 13 different receivers.....but averaged under 5 yards per pass, and threw a pick (so, 14 different receivers, kinda). MSU only rushed for 71 total yards.

174) Tarleton State 24, 46) South Dakota State 20
Tarelton - 0 | 10 | 7 | 7
SDSU - 3 | 14 | 0 | 3

Kayvon Britten (Tarl) - 11 carries, 125 yards, 2 TDs
Isaiah Davis (SDSU) - 20 carries, 120 yards, 2 TDs

Even within FCS, this sim makes no sense. South Dakota State is 14-0 and favored by 12 points in the actual FCS championship game next weekend, after winning their semifinal game 59-0 lol, they would never lose this game.

I'm gonna kinda speedrun the rest of this, because the sim is very silly and I'm gearing up for the Rose Bowl

110) Virginia 46, 19) Tennessee 17
Virginia almost flips the exact score from this match-up irl earlier in September, after the sim removes about half of Tennessee's roster due to transfers & opt outs. Maybe that bodes well for Iowa on Monday.

134) Furman 21, 6) Michigan 20
Ahaha. That's about right.

59) Missouri 52, 70) Coastal Carolina 20

38) Kentucky 34, 91) Georgia State 13

27) Auburn 40, 155) UL-Monroe 14

246) Butler 21, 118) Northern Iowa 13
Another unlikely FCS vs FCS result, although Butler did over-achieve this year while UNI underachieved.

75) Northwestern 17, 203) Murray State 16
The Wildcats avoid the FCS hammer, scoring the winning touchdown with 10 seconds left after a clutch 77-yard '2 minute drill' drive

86) Georgia Tech 30, 43) Iowa State 23

22) TCU 13, 150) Delaware 10

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bracket updated through the first 2 rounds: https://challonge.com/kvn2mn0e

Let's sim some more games during this less-than-thrilling Cotton Bowl

1) Georgia 33, 65) North Dakota State 28
Georgia opened up with a 9-0 lead, which they needed since NDSU hung with them the rest of the game (though they never led)

161) Illinois State 31, 32) Syracuse 10
'Cuse showing the same level of enthusiasm they had against USF. I give Illinois State about a 50/50 chance to beat Georgia. In fact I give every team a 50/50 chance in every game.

177) Mercer 16, 16) Clemson 10
aaannnnnnnnd that's almost half the 1 seeds gone (9 of 16 remain)

17) Florida State 34, 81) Boston College 21
Boston College scored first.....then it was all (or mostly) Seminoles the rest of the way. I hope FSU wins this tournament, that's just as good as making the real playoff I'd say.

8) Texas 42, 72) South Alabama 19
I thought USA might actually have a chance here, but it was never close. Texas is definitely one of the favorites to win it all, with 2 of the 4 irl playoff teams already out.

25) UCF 45, 89) Utah State 10
That's about right - Utah State never shoulda beat Maryland in the first place. The 1 & 2 seeds will actually meet in this region - Texas and UCF didn't play this year, so now we get to see exactly how it would have went, with stunning accuracy.

73) Montana State 42, 9) Washington 28
Lol, make that 1 of 4 actual playoff teams remaining

24) UCLA 35, 41) BYU 28
A true game of runs - UCLA opened up a 21-0 lead, then BYU scored 28 straight, then UCLA scored the last 14 points to win it

South Dakota State rolls in the FCS championship game, as expected

Now to see if I can actually finish this before the D1 season ends

Bracket: https://challonge.com/kvn2mn0e (1/4 way through Round 3)

61) NC State 36, 4) Oklahoma 27
Based on Oklahoma's bowl game performance, I buy that. They briefly took their first lead of the game midway through the 4th quarter, then NC State scored 2 unanswered touchdowns. There's now only one region left (LSU's) where all the favorites have won, and half the 1-seeds are now out.

29) South Carolina 38, 36) SMU 12
Also believable based on SMU's bowl performance. Spencer Rattler tore up the Mustang secondary for almost 400 yards and 3 TDs. We'll have a Carolina vs Carolina regional final. The SMU defense did manage to get the tournament's......5th safety or so, I wanna say.

180) Pennsylvania 16, 13) Ole Miss 10
Haha, I'm pulling for Penn or Princeton to win it all. Ole Miss led for about 7/8 of the game, until Penn finally scored their first touchdown with about 8 minutes left. They held on despite only 82 yards rushing. 7/16 1-seeds remain.

237) Grambling 24, 45) Cincinnati 19
Lol again. There were a few lead changes in the 2nd half as both teams went back and forth kicking field goals, until Grambling scored the final touchdown of the game with 2 minutes left. Cincy made it to the Grambling 25 but missed a field goal as time expired (great call). 6 field goal attempts and 2 interceptions will often cost you the game. Grambling vs Penn regional final :)

...............annnnnnnnd now the sim site is down so maybe we won't finish after all :)

OK it's back up (for now)

5) USC 43, 69) Colorado 7
Even with Caleb Williams gone, the Trojans do not fuck around in the rematch, scoring the game's first 33 points, and notching the 6th(? sure why not) safety of the tourney

28) Miami, Fl 38, 165) Princeton 7
Damn it, now the sim gives us a real score. Princeton scored first and then.........

Actual 1 v 2 final in this region

12) Oregon 59, 53) Baylor 13
Bo Nix with a new single-game tournament record 8 touchdown passes (breaking his own record of 7), and WR Tony Franklin I believe also set a single-game receiving record with 299 yards. Ducks scored the first 31 points. Also, the sim tells me this match-up has been simulated 49 times this season - Oregon won all 49.

44) California 24, 108) Ball State 3
Mmhmmmmmm looks right. Ball State knocks a field goal through with 6 minutes left to avoid the shutout. Pac-12 vs Pac-12 regional final.

2) Ohio State 27, 63) Arizona 23
One of the better games of the tournament, as Ohio State comes back from a 20-0 deficit, which I believe ties the record for biggest comeback. Both quarterbacks were terrible, but TreVeyon Henderson (who did actually play in their bowl game) was a difference-maker with 2 touchdowns, including the game-winner with 2 minutes left.

31) Florida 31, 162) Western Carolina 30
The Catamounts' miracle run comes to an end, despite a valiant comeback effort after being down 31-13 in the 3rd quarter (too bad 2-point conversions haven't been invented yet). Yet another 1 v 2 regional final, for all the ridiculous upsets we've had.

79) Virginia Tech 19, 143) Jacksonville State 16
End of the line for Rich Rod. Defensive battle in which the Hokies never trailed.

146) Austin Peay 21, 47) Tulane 12
Yeeeaahhhhh I knew the American sucked. Tulane was up 12-7 early in the 3rd quarter, then decided that was enough scoring for the day. They were held to under 100 yards passing.

135) Holy Cross 38, 186) Portland State 30
The Crusaders take it after trailing by 13 at halftime (holding the Vikings to 63 yards passing helped)

39) Boise State 48, 103) Florida Atlantic 14
Yeeeaahhhhh I knew the American sucked
ELIMINATED

10) LSU 66, 55) Appalachian State 28
App St QB Joey Aguilar with a huge day - 28/32, 382 yards and 4 TDs.......but this tryhard Jayden Daniels guy had to go for 506 yards and 7 TDs. LSU WR Malik Nabers had 220 yards, and 4 touchdown catches, which I think ties the tourney single-game record.

23) North Carolina 48, 42) Minnesota 10
Mmmhmmmmmm.....*much* the same way as the regular season clash. UNC scored the first 27 points. Cole Kramer: 121 passing yards, no touchdowns, 5 interceptions . LSU's region is the only 'pure chalk' region heading into the regional final.

126) Incarnate Word 19, 62) Toledo 3
Incarnate Word opened the scoring with a 2nd quarter safety - probably the 5th-most iconic safety of the tournament. Toledo of course then had to kick-off back to the Cardinals, who added on a field goal, giving them a 5-0 lead for bit. So that was fun. They scored the first 19 points before Toledo finally got a 4th quarter field goal.

163) Missouri State 20, 30) Texas Tech 17 (OT)
PK Gino Garcia missed a kick in regulation, as well as a must-have kick in overtime that would have forced double-OT, while Missouri State's Owen Rozanc went 2/2. Our second FCS vs FCS regional final.

142) Southeast Missouri State 17, 179) Florida A&M 3
SE Missouri State scored a touchdown on their first drive......which is all they would need.

174) Tarleton 24, 110) Virginia 17
Virginia actually scored the game's first 17 points.......but against the FCS, no lead is safe! We'll now have a minimum 3 FCS teams in the Round of 16 lol.

59) Missouri 30, 134) Furman 20
A 13-0 lead was enough for the Tigers, who did what Michigan couldn't - dethrone the mighty Paladins

38) Kentucky 21, 27) Auburn 6
This is the region I should have called the Mid-Tier SEC region. Classic Payton Throne performance - 6/17 passing, 70 yards.

246) Butler 20, 75) Northwestern 14
Butler is on a mission from God. The only 16-seed to make the regional final.

86) Georgia Tech 27, 22) TCU 13
........the sim also says that, of the 40 times this match-up has been simulated this season, GT has won 27 and TCU won 13 O_O O_O The Yellow Jackets keep it rollin' after their bowl win over UCF.

Updated Bracket through Round of 64: https://challonge.com/kvn2mn0e

Regional Finals: (seeds listed instead of rank)

1) Georgia vs 11) Illinois State
2) Florida State vs 12) Mercer
1) Texas vs 2) UCF
2) UCLA vs 5) Montana State

2) South Carolina vs 4) NC State
12) Pennsylvania vs 15) Grambling
1) USC vs 2) Miami, FL
1) Oregon vs 3) California

1) Ohio State vs 2) Florida
5) Virginia Tech vs 10) Austin Peay
3) Boise State vs 9) Holy Cross
1) LSU vs 2) North Carolina

8) Incarnate Word vs 11) Missouri State
9) SE Missouri State vs 11) Tarleton State
3) Kentucky vs 4) Missouri
6) Georgia Tech vs 16) Butler

--------------------------------------------------------

1) Georgia 34, 161) Illinois State 13
Georgia remains one of the few powerhouses seemingly impervious to the sim's FCS shenanigans. I'm not sure if an FBS team will be able to beat them either....

17) Florida State 47, 177) Mercer 0
Hmmmm.....the sim suddenly gave FSU Jordan Travis back......and we'll have a Georgia/Florida State "rematch" in the Round of 16.......interesting......

8) Texas 56, 25) UCF 7
Well......UCF did have a 7-0 lead. Seems about right if they played each other right now.

73) Montana State 38, 24) UCLA 17
Oh boy......this was never close. We're now guaranteed to have at least FOUR FCS teams in the Round of 16.

61) NC State 35, 29) South Carolina 17
Getting way more safeties in the later rounds - this time NC State somehow completes a -2 yard pass in their own endzone to give the Gamecocks 2 points and the ball, simply stunning. SC then ties it up with a pair of field goals, 14-14, but the Wolf Pack outscore them 21-3 the rest of the way. Despite somehow completing a pass for a safety, Brennan Armstrong threw for 350 yards, 5 touchdowns and no picks. The Gamecocks scored 17 points without a touchdown.

180) Pennsylvania 44, 237) Grambling 10
Holy shit, Penn's going ALL THE WAY. 44-0 lead into the 4th quarter. QB Aidan Sayin threw for 300 yards and 5 touchdowns, with Jared Richardson catching 4 of them + racking up 175 receiving yards. Just sayin'.

5) USC 62, 28) Miami, Fl 24
Trojan offense way too much for the Windy Ducks

12) Oregon 31, 44) California 26
Wow, this was a blowout irl but Cal gave the Ducks all they could handle here, and even led most of the game. Back-to-back 4th quarter rushing touchdowns by Jayden Limar and Mar'Keise Irving were the difference, while Cal was settling for too many field goals.

2) Ohio State 40, 31) Florida 6
Wow. Granted Florida shouldn't have been a 2-seed (they'd still be the worst 3 based on current Sagarin rankings), but the 1-seeds are rolling so far in their regional finals. TreVeyon Henderson again led the way on the ground with 161 yards and 2 TDs on only 19 carries.

79) Virginia Tech 45, 146) Austin Peay 3
Austin Peay with no juice left - only a field goal as time expired prevented a shutout. The Hokie offense was aided by 3 Mike Diliello interceptions.

135) Holy Cross 40, 39) Boise State 37 (2OT)
HOLY Cross!! FIVE FCS teams minimum in the Round of 16. The closest game you could possibly have - neither team ever led by more than one possession. Both teams found the endzone in the first overtime, but Boise settling for a field goal in the next session ended up costing them, as the Crusaders scored the walk-off winner on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Sluka to Phoenix Dickson. Sluka threw for 240 yards and 2 TDs, and ran for 140 yards.

10) LSU 48, 23) North Carolina 35
UNC got off to a hot 14-0 start, and hung on best they could, but the Tiger offense was too much as they scored the game's final two touchdowns in the 4th quarter. Not surprisingly, both quarterbacks went off - Drake Maye with 450 yards and 4 TDs, and Jayden Daniels with 475 yards and 5 TDs.

163) Missouri State 41, 126) Incarnate Word 3
Look at the irl 4-7 Bears go!! 460 yards and 4 TDs for Mo St QB Jordan Pachot. Incarnate Word's leading rusher had one carry.

142) SE Missouri State 13, 174) Tarleton 10
What can you say about Tarleton........they were Tarleton. Had a 10-0 lead in the 3rd quarter, then the Redhawks came back and DC PIPPIN hit the game-winning field goal from 42 yards with only 4 seconds left. Missouri State vs Southeast Missouri State is not a Round of 16 match-up I would have predicted.

59) Missouri 20, 38) Kentucky 17
Another game-winning field goal with only a few seconds left, this time a 43-yarder by Harrison Mevis. Kentucky hung in closer than in the real-life game, but still never led, and QB Devin Leary had a dismal stat line - 0 TDs and 3 INTs.

246) Butler 34, 86) Georgia Tech 21
Butler stop you can't do this. Yellow Jackets scored the game's first touchdown, then it was all Bulldogs. The lone 16-seed to make it out of their region.......can they go even further?......

Bracket updated through Round of 32: https://challonge.com/kvn2mn0e

Round of 16 match-ups:
1) Georgia vs 17) Florida State
8) Texas vs 73) Montana State
61) NC State vs 180) Pennsylvania
5) USC vs 12) Oregon

2) Ohio State vs 79) Virginia Tech
10) LSU vs 135) Holy Cross
142) SE Missouri State vs 163) Missouri State
59) Missouri vs 246) Butler

-----------------------------------

17) Florida State 23, 1) Georgia 13
Virtual vindication for the Seminoles! Not even sure they needed Travis - he finally threw his first touchdown pass as time expired when FSU was already up 3. Still, better than Carson Beck's 0 touchdowns and 1 interception. According to the website, Florida State has only won this match-up 18% of the time.

73) Montana State 45, 8) Texas 30
Alright now I'm CONVINCED an FCS team is winning it all. Texas got within 1, early in the 4th quarter, but never led. QB Tommy Mellott was extremely efficient for the Bobcats - 4 TDs on 13/17 passing, plus 69 yards & a TD on the ground. Ewers threw 3 TD passes and no picks, but had only 200 passing yards and a 50% completion rate.

180) Pennsylvania 23, 61) NC State 15
QUAKERS WILL NOT BE DENIED! The Wolf Pack's embarrassing redzone offense cost them - 5 FGs and no TDs.

5) USC 55, 12) Oregon 31
The Trojans scored touchdowns on each of their first 4 possessions, and that was that. Bo Nix "only" threw for 430 yards and 2 TDs.

2) Ohio State 24, 79) Virginia Tech 13
The Hokies had a brief 3-point lead in the 4th quarter, but Ohio State controlled things for the most part, keeping the Big Ten alive.

135) Holy Cross 30, 10) LSU 28
Holy shit, they are the actual Crusaders sent from God, nevermind what I said about Butler. Kept pace with LSU the entire way, and did just enough in the 2nd half. QB Sluka again with a huge game on the ground: 20 carries for 187 yards and a TD. Jayden Daniels "held" to 3 total TDs (2 passing, 1 rushing).

163) Missouri State 31, 142) SE Missouri State 6
Here I am simulating a game between two 'Missouri State' schools, less than two hours before Michigan plays for a national championship - how did my life get to this point

246) Butler 27, 59) Missouri 3
Nope - Butler reclaims the title of "God's team." Tied at 3 in the 2nd quarter and then.......good night, Mizzou. Missouri's leading receiver had one catch.

-----------------------

So, 3 FBS teams vs 5 FCS teams in the quarterfinals looll

Montana State is winning this whole thing. The sim is delusional about FCS teams, but it's EXTRA delusional about Montana State.

It's looking that way......I wonder if they meant to beef up Montana for making the FCS final

....as if there's any rhyme or reason to this thing

QUARTERFINALS from my parked car before I head to Ann Arbor:

73) Montana State 35, 17) Florida State 34
Yyyyyyyep. FSU was so close to bringing it back after being in a 28-3 hole, but Jordan Travis threw a costly interception late 3rd quarter down 27-28 which directly led to a Bobcat touchdown. The Seminoles did manage to score one more TD late, but again, without the invention of the 2-point conversion, there was nothing they could do sadly.

"Montana State has won this match-up 13 of 20 times" checks out

2 FBS SCHOOLS REMAIN

5) USC 31, 180) Pennsylvania 30
NOOOOooooooo, muh Quakers! Back & forth in the 1st half, then the Trojans pulled away before Penn last-minute comeback attempt. Once again, the lack of 2-point conversion option cost them a chance to tie.

135) Holy Cross 30, 2) Ohio State 3
Lol. I would enjoy this were it a real-life score, which would never happen. Lookin' like Montana State > Holy Cross in the final.

1 FBS TEAM REMAINS

246) Butler 31, 163) Missouri State 21
At this point I hope Butler wins it as a 16-seed

I think it's hilarious that of all the FBS teams to make it to the final four... it's USC, the most overrated team in the sim's rankings, lol

the one team that you know probably WOULD have gotten upset by Montana State or someone stupid

SEMIFINALS while I'm still parked

73) Montana State 21, 5) USC 3

NO FBS TEAMS REMAIN

"Montana State has won this match-up 14 of 18 times" ahahha.......yeah. This was all a forgone conclusion.

246) Butler 27, 135) Holy Cross 17

Up next........which OP FCS school will come out on top??
Who CARES about that game in Houston, THIS is where it's at!

I wonder if there's something going on in the background like it has FBS and FCS separated and ranked against each other. So using the EA type of system maybe Montana State is a 95 OVR for an FCS team and Georgia is a 93 OVR for a FBS team and it just forgets to scale back the FCS stats for FCS/FBS matchups?

Man it's sad that this ended up with such a predictable final.

Montana State vs Butler? Practically chalk. Who didn't see that coming at the start?

Hooray for Michigan's national championship, that the NCAA will allow us to keep for a year or two if they're feeling generous

and now

THIRD PLACE GAME
5) USC 38, 135) Holy Cross 34

I'm stunned USC won this game - Holy Cross was up 10-0 before Caleb Williams got going, throwing 4 touchdown passes total. Holy Cross QB Matthew Sluka tried to keep up, scoring once by air and once by land, the latter giving the Crusaders a brief 34-31 lead with under a minute left. On the final play of the game, Williams completed a 47-yard TD pass to Brendan Rice for the thrilling game-winner. Helluva game, bronze for the Trojans.

CHAMP'SHIP
246) Butler 35, 73) Montana State 24

Much less exciting game here - Bobcats briefly had a 14-7 lead in the 2nd quarter, then Butler went on a 28-3 run, and it was over. So, the 16-seed, 246th ranked team out of 261 D1 schools (according to Sagarin on September 19th) won it all. A lot of other upsets paved the way for them - their opening win over Notre Dame was by far their best - and irl this year they finished all the way up at 222nd, over-achieving with a 7-4 record.......but still. Wow.

Thank you, this has been thee most broken simulated tournament of all-time, hope you enjoyed

Actually, I forgot how well Missouri finished this year - Butler beating them 27-3 was definitely their best tourney win; Notre Dame 2nd.
