Like, I get where you're coming from. Your country was attacked and innocent people died. It's awful. Instinctive human nature is very much inclined to view whatever response that comes afterwards as necessary to protect yourself. Just try not to be especially surprised when other countries condemn the response as a disproportionate series of atrocities, because from an objective perspective, that's basically what it is. There were ways to go about this with a fraction of the lives lost right now.

That is such a wild ruling. "officer of the United States" does not include President lol. It's being appealed (to Colorado Supreme Court but probably ends up in SCOTUS eventually) but like... its nuts to have a court find "Yes, he engaged in insurrection of the United States" but then follow up with "butttttttt we're not 100% sure POTUS is an officer of the US so welp!"

Edit: Reading the actual ruling from the judge (it is very nice to see how they clearly labelled everything. SCOTUS should take notes.) It seems like they were reluctant to DQ here unless it was 110% clear that the 14th Amendment's word choice included POTUS/VPOTUS. To be completely fair to them, some of the points they mention the defense raised suggesting it didn't aren't totally insane but it does lead to the honestly pretty comical admission on their part that the Court has to proceed then under the assumption that for whatever reason the authors of the 14th Amendment just intentionally excluded POTUS/VPOTUS from the DQ part even as the judge also admits that the historian who testified for the plantiff raised the pretty obvious point that clearly the 14th Amendment would not have been understood by its authors to let Jefferson Davis run for POTUS after the Civil War along with the historian's citing from a Congressional Debate about the understanding of the meanings of the terms at the time.

Yep, and for those who arent familiar with the recent movies, not only are they successful and well liked by critics and audiences they are clearly building the whole arc around Barreras character. So they have effectively just torpedoed their own series (Edit: beaten to it!). You dont do that without either serious cause or a real commitment to your ideology.

Some think the deduce for yourselves thing might have been (or was taken as) an antisemitic dogwhistle claiming that Jews control the media, though Ill be honest I did not read it that way at all until I saw peoples comments. It leapt out to me as simply pointing out how biased a lot of the media has been in favour of the Israeli government. Of course thats not to definitively say otherwise, I dont think we can know from just this. Plus nobody has said anything officially yet so any supposed cause is just speculation right now.

Either way, given what some celebrities have been saying about Muslims and Palestinians, some openly calling for genocide with no repercussions, the double standard is clear.

I think this is probably the case. For instance, Ortega has posted stuff like "Decolonize Palestine" and didn't suffer the same result so I'd lean towards it being the "deduce for yourself" thing.

Edit: To be clear, it's definitely a standard that is not at all applied evenly though.

Its a bad stereotype and wasnt what I immediately thought reading that either, but Ive personally also only seen people posting pro-Palestine stuff being let go by their agencies and stuff and not any of the ones who have recently been posting pro-Israel stuff.
