that's kind of the demographic i think is more OK overall, yeah. i mean okay i forgot Rollins dated that chick with the MLP nazi but he's got a way, way better person and fortunately that lasted just a year. willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in saying that he's still a good guy who doesn't believe the shit she does, he was just thinking with his dick at the time.

I mean, Bret Hart, someone I've admired for most of my life, was a serial cheater and punched out a gay man who came on to him. Almost everyone has skeletons in the closet and flaws in their character, and I'm usually of the opinion that these flaws warrant some contextualization before the person is completely condemned.

But these accusations against McMahon are beyond the pale. They'd be a horrible goddamn look 50 years ago, much less today. I know this is a civil case and he'll likely wind up paying big money, but fuck, I wish it prompts a criminal investigation.

oh Vince should've been in jail decades ago. i don't think there's anything anybody can do to redeem him, re-watching stuff from the attitude era or after and the way he treated women on Raw kind of made it clear that this wasn't just a "character" he was playing. everything from his obsession with Trish to whatever blond of the month existed to Eva Marie's return, it all ends up a case of he literally booked all of these things and i'm not surprised he's got worse skeletons in the closet. i wasn't expecting literally shitting on somebody's face but i also can't be terribly surprised.

Someone in another topic mentioned this, and I think it's worth noting: one of the victim's attorneys is Ann Callis, a former chief judge in Illinois. The victim has a serious legal team representing her; there's just no way attorneys of this caliber would be persuing this case if it were some frivilous ambulance-chasing stuff.

This is coming from my recollection of his book (which I read years ago), so I'm sure some of these details are wrong. A young Bret was in some guy's room, thinking they were just hanging out. The guy sits next to Bret, shows him some gay porn, and asks "you like?" Can't remember if the guy touched Bret first or if Hitman immediately just decked him, but yeah, he punched the poor guy and left. This was back in the 70s or 80s and like, clearly doesn't make it ok, but using violence (rather than a polite decline) was a much more common way of dealing with things like that back then.

you've gotta laugh at the dark stuff, it's what keeps you sane. also helps bring you back to remembering that these are just her allegations, happening right before the rumble, and because he essentially stopped payments on an NDA. if she had been a little faster, could've fucked up the netflix deal. some of this is going to be exaggerated or factually incorrect, with some clear flags that say early on she was okay with it - nobody sane is doing a closed door meeting with a dude in his underwear. obviously wrong but at the start something had to be consensual. like this is by far the worst accusation he's ever had and there's gonna be a lot to prove. public opinion-wise and company-wise though, he's done. especially as sponsors hear this and she scares lesnar off too. if her first goal was to set the rest of his career and life on fire, mission accomplished. if the second is to get him jailed, i look forward to seeing the case and more NDA-for-rape getting broken because fuck those.

I honestly don't blame them for it, but if they're like most normal people, the really grotesque and sad nature of these allegations will dawn on them once they start reading the actual court complaint (which is 67 pages long and publicly available).

Compound it with the fact that this whole thing started because she was unemployed after losing her job as her parents' caregiver because both her parents died.

And yes, I know these are all allegations, but we're wrestling fans and it's VINCE MCMAHON. We've been exposed to interviews, articles, books, and inside accounts on this guy for decades. I've been reading about reactions to this in multiple places, and for every person saying "let's wait for the court to decide," there are 50 people saying "I believe every word because we all know this vile piece of crap."

It's also a civil complaint, and her legal counsel is rock solid. He's going to lose, and lose big. Like I said earlier, I only hope this prompts criminal investigation, because this is some criminal behavior.

I mean, when she complained about emotional trauma and talked about seeing a doctor, McMahon pressured her into *only* seeing a doctor of his choosing, and she was never given any billing or medical documentation from that doctor. McMahon repeatedly mentioned having his world-class lawyer on speedial, and how his lawyer could make problematic people disappear. He spoke about things like taking care of loyal people. This is coded language, and anyone can read between the lines. If you give credence to these allegations, then imo it becomes reasonable to go so far as to call this a type of sex slavery. This is how extremely wealthy and powerful people purchase sex while draining the humanity from their victim.

Again, if this was Johnny Never-Heard-Of-You, I might refrain from any opinion until the matter is settled, or at least until we hear both sides. It's Vince McMahon. I have no problem believing all of this.

oh totally. there's a certain point where what was a bad but consensual decision turns into something that's full on abuse, is just rape, and it definitely gets there in the allegations. where, i don't know, but it's somewhere in there. between this and the countless NDA he's done with women, totally think he's a rapist and needs to be jailed for the rest of his life. just gotta also see her current circumstances and timing to know that this ain't a neutral ploy, she meant to hit him for everything he's got and she absolutely should.

all that said i still can't get over the stopped payments. it's a 3 mil NDA and you sold so much stock, just pay it. and what's the conversation there, "Vince, why in the hell did you stop payments on the one where, after giving her the "Dudley Boys", you decided to give her the Spike and shit on her head?" surely, surely he could've stiffed on some other deal.

fair point really. there's tons of petty or criminal or just plain weird sex fetish shit but the worst ranged from coverups (murder, rape) and rape (which is just about every one of his NDA). taking on a literal sex slave for years after all that just feels like he somehow got worse. decades of some of the worst behavior and as he nears the end of his life just triples down, turns a broken woman into a sex slave, then pimps her out for years. that's a whole other level.

Yeah, I noticed that over and over again. A great crowd really adds to a match but a dead crowd just sucks the life out of it.

Anyway, the Men's Rumble was also okay but probably worse than the Women's? Bron Breaker hits those ropes HARD. Other than that, I'm hard pressed to remember much.

Slight surprise with Cody winning rather than Punk. It makes you wonder though because you can't do Cody/Reigns 2 and not have Cody win, right? They teased Rock, but do they use a Triple Threat as a way to deny Cody again without having him pinned? It doesn't necessarily feel like they want to end Reigns reign but it's all set up for that to truly happen this time.

I've got 2 big complaints about the PLE and neither one is new. The first is that the amount of ads is staggering. Since I don't have Peacock Premium, it's just 5-6-10 minutes of ads, plus you don't get the recap of why the match is happening. As a PLE only watcher, the lack of build up/hype is stupid when that's one of WWE's best assets.

The second is that the show is just too fucking long. Four matches (granted 2 rumbles...) took 4 hours, ending around midnight EST. I start getting sleepy and my attention span starts to wander at the end of these things, despite the fact that the endings of the last match should be the most exciting part! No idea how kids are supposed to watch these things live. I'd say start the shows an hour earlier but that's just my East Coast bias.

Wasn't a fan of rumble winner and wouldn't have been if Punk had won either. Part of is probably tied to me disliking the length of Reigns run so Cody/Reigns 2 does absolutely nothing for me. Finish the story is stupid, it taking 2 years is inexcusable as there was no reason for him to not get another shot between last year and now other than they wanted to drag it out to another Wrestlemania. Reigns barely ever turning up only exasperates this as it's obvious that's what they were going for

I'd have been against a CM Punk win too because fucking off for so many years through your own doing and then coming back and getting put over the guys who stuck around and worked just rubs me the wrong way.

It's why 'Do the work, finish the story' is a stupid tagline to me because they don't actually put over the guys who have done that. I'm just not a fan of back to back rumble winners. Elevate someone who could actually use it rather than someone who already has won it and could have found another way to fight Roman anyway
