I think a 2nd Wargames match gets added with Damage Control (minus Dakota due to injury) vs Belair, Charlotte, Shotzi, and a mystery partner that's later revealed to be Jade Cargill.

There's also rumors that McIntyre may side with Judgment Day in their match, leading to Rollins seeking a 5th partner that's revealed to be either Orton or CM Punk (if it's Orton, he better be announced BEFORE the event or else he likely gets booed out of Chicago)

I don't think Orton would get booed out. I think CM Punk did enough damage to his brand in AEW that Chicago would riot over him like they did in the past.

It took 12 years, but "The Man" Championship that started with Ric Flair's final* singles match in 2011 has finally made it to WWE. The title bounced around in TNA until 2021 when Kenny Omega brought it to AEW, and then CM Punk had the title before being released in September.

Imagine losing Cody, Punk, and Jade in a span of two years

Think it's difficult to blame TK for Punk or Jade. Jade is just obviously a better fit for WWE and was not able to improve within AEW's system. And Punk? Tony did everything possible to appease that man, to a fault. Should he have managed the Colt/Hangman situation better? Yeah but at the end of the day I don't think you can put the blame for Punk at anyone's feet other than Punk

Cody we don't know some of the story... but without knowing the missing pieces, yeah, it will never add up to me how Tony didn't give Cody anything he wanted.

The only thing I think Tony could have done different is before bringing Punk back after the suspension, actually having him and the Elite all sit down and discuss what they're comfortable with as a working relationship going forward. Instead of just keeping them separated while giving Punk his own show.

Yeah that blew my mind a bit when I read it. Nobody has come out of that well and everyone looks insanely unprofessional.

the only thing I can think of is the elite basically saying they'd go to wwe if he forced them to sit down with punk - they hadn't re-signed at the point this was coming up iirc

He was floundering in the mid card when he left WWE, then he was really hot in AEW for a little bit but then ultimately he started floundering in the mid card again in AEW. His dumb idea to never challenge for the belt probably didn't help but I remember Cody getting booed as a face in AEW toward the end of his run there.

But then he came back to WWE and now he's the top face in the company? Where did all of the excitement for Cody come from?

I'm assuming it's because he left, started a legitimate competitor to WWE, came back as the ultimate turncoat, and shortly after his return, had that major pec injury, but still managed to put on a five-star match against Seth Rollins.

He was one of AEW's top acts the entire time, and the hottest in the first 6 months. it was obviously a mistake to rule himself out of the AEW title picture - in fact, I'd contend it's the reason the AEW title started to feel like not the most important thing on the show, because Cody was and he wasn't going for the title. His initial run with the TNT title is one of AEW's best and most important runs too.

Yeah I guess that run garnered enough good will to overcome the rest of his AEW run. While we're on the subject, what's the deal with Jade Cargill? Why is she getting so much hype when apparently she's new to wrestling or something?

Is it just her look or her mic skills or something?

I think a lot of people just look at the later parts of the Codyverse, like the Factory, but that was less on Cody but the surrounding talent not being ready/not good enough for the spot

As someone who only watches the PLEs, I found myself somewhat bored and disinterested. Maybe I just think the War Games format, with the match not officially starting until everyone is in the ring, is stupid?

Maybe it's just that my wax and wane interest in WWE has hit a low point again. I was drawn back in again by all The Bloodline stuff last year and that's not "it" at the moment. Not to mention no Lesnar, who's someone that I love to watch.

my interest in wrestling generally is at an all time low. i lost all interest in wwe years ago and aew is currently at a nadir and i'm too scatterbrained to bother keeping up with any puro stuff so i'm kinda just idling and waiting for something that's interesting to me to happen

I've been enjoying, uh, Enjoy, and the local guys.

My mom died who was the main person who was still into wrestling that I knew and covid shortly after so that was a death knell for my wrestling interest

I rarely watch the big events only because my in laws have Peacock, but nothing convinces me to sit and watch a full episode of Raw or SmackDown.

I watch AEW regularly but not PPVs
