WWE has had this weird obsession with milestones, so if they are trying to have Roman surpass Hogan (even if the creative gas ran out on Roman's title reign ages ago), there's a possibility he beats Cody again.

It's hard to give a shit about Roman's lengthy reign and milestones when he's never fucking around. I'd be more okay with it if he wasn't a part timer.

mystique thing for sure is part of it.
helps with injuries is the other.
his actual real life health issues is the other big one and WWE really, really, really loves his look + Rock influence, so they'll cave on all of that.

technically could do Rollins/Orton. that way when Damien cashes in he's able to cash-in on a face and you have Orton one shy of Cena/Flair. personally i'd still prefer Drew but that's just because his work is way too good for jobbing and he's got history with everyone involved. then again reality kicks in and i remember his contract still isn't supposed to last after WM40 unless he signed it and no dirt sheet reported on it.

SD did feel weird with HHH getting cheered by using the Rock's lines. felt like it's actually face hunter feuding with heel rock but 1) HHH can't wrestle anymore as he literally has a defibrillator in his heart, and 2) at this point that'd be a godawful match. legit not sure where this arc is going but it's at least nice, from a wrestling standpoint, to see HHH and Rock have some kind of WM feud as they never did fight there. it's at least an interesting storyline.

...also i kinda want the tag titles on R-Truth and Miz/Whoever Truth thinks Miz is but that's just goofy.

Everything about that segment the other night was great, except for how hard they buried Seth and his belt.

They still somehow don't realize how bad it is to call one of your world titles the loser's bracket. Even if it's Reigns doing it as a heel bit. You can't just bury guys like that it makes everyone around that belt look worse.

With that Superbowl commercial heavily implying we'll get Cody/Rollins vs Roman/Rock for night 1, I feel this could easily change the chamber. Zero concerns with doing the match and Priest cashing in on Rollins night 1. Night 2 then becomes EC winner vs Priest so that's an easy out to giving it to Orton, which they're already implying a feud with Drew anyway.

I'd be on board for this if Orton had won the Chamber, setting up Orton vs Priest on Night 2 after a successful cash in.

can someone summarize how we got from cody stepping back for the rock to face roman to the rock not facing roman?

• Rock debuted in January, says the "Head of the Table" line to put people on the Roman/Rock train
• Cody Wins the Rumble and points at Roman
• Rock calls Cody and says, "All due respect, I want to face Roman. You can finish your story anytime," which Cody agrees to.
• Rock whispers in Cody's ear, "Let's make a great show and do it for Dusty (Rhodes) and Rocky (Johnson)." Claims everything went as they agreed until Cody didn't look back in a Bret/Hogan kinda way, but in a, "Rock ran over my goofy ass dog" kinda way.
• Rock hears the online backlash and coins the "Cody Crybabies" line on McAfee's show.
• Rock heads to Vegas, says Cody didn't call him, find him in the back, just walks up as Roman/Rock hype up the Bloodline tree.
• Cody calls bullshit and calls the Bloodline a bunch of thugs and goons. Says their grandparents would be ashamed of Roman/Rock.
• Rock slaps the shit out of his mouth, and goes on to lean into the reaction, joins the Bloodline (allegedly), and signs off by telling Cody, "Fuck your story."

Since then, we've had HHH come out and book Roman/Cody, throwing out Rock catchphrases, and Rock clapping back in what looks like an eventual HHH/Rock on air segment.

slight correction, Cody didn't just call bullshit, he said that he has the right to pick the main event match as the Rumble winner and that he's picking Roman. then HHH comes out the next night to clarify that Rock doesn't get to call the shots so it's Roman/Cody.

and now we're set up for a tag team of Rock/Roman vs Rhodes/Rollins on night 1. Jimmy and Jay will probably be a different match or just setting things up for later.

To clarify I meant in kayfabe. Sounds like it was simply Cody like "i have chosen, im using my shot for rollins, this guy is facing reigns" then at some point later "I changed my mind i have chosen again to face reigns im allowed to change my mind" or did the slap happen in between

That is kayfabe. It is what they came up with after Cody turning down the match for the Rock became a Daniel Bryan thing online. They are playing off reality and pivoting about as well as they can.
