was it pretty helpful in your case? Reportedly it costs a lot to do one. The machine is super expensive itself, is one of the primary reasons for this....

I mean not really, they did one when they were trying to find my stomach problems but it didn't find anything

I do MRIs every year. The claustrophobia doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that I have to lie down perfectly still for 3 hours.

That long? And they can't just put you to sleep, right?

I don't like the procedure. Protect your body with some vest that feels heavy when you are lying down, some plain white cloth over it, the room feels cold because of the cooling. Your head gets stuck in, there is a blinding light right before your eyes, you are wearing headphones for communication so everything is muffled, but the noise of the procedure is still very loud. And meanwhile you are probably asked to hold your breath for 10 or more seconds, repeatedly. That's talking about CT, guess I'm not doing an MRI.

screw it, I meant upper body not head.

I've had both. CT is much shorter and the machine is less claustrophobic and makes less noise. You have to usually have contrast before though, so anticipate an IV.

yeah it very freq. is recommended for stomach problems right? Wonder why though

It's impossible afaik to be "put to sleep" and do an MRI at the same time. I do not think an anesthesiologist can properly do their jobs to someone inside an MRI machine.

And MRIs can be short, but I have to do three of them with & without contrast. I asked about being allowed to have a break and they said can't do that because contrast has to be taken in the exact same position as non contrasted. If you weren't doing contrast and still had to do like 3-4 MRIs for some reason they probably could let you take a break. I can't imagine what on earth would put you into that circumstance though.

Wtf.... Is that real? That's insane.

about 6 times in the last year. I'm extremely claustrophobic so it sucked ass for me. But its usually pretty quick.

Although 1 did that 40 minutes for me once..

Is that the one that scans your brain? If so what would be the point in my case? I obviously have nothing up there.
