Lucky guy. I think it'll be a different thing with your wife though, since I meet a few girls for the first time, I've had some of them pay for me. Most of these instances aren't from London though.

Girlfriends present and past insist on it, when they think I'm trying to sneak my way into paying for everything. Which I probably am, albeit unintentionally.

My wife makes way more money than me, so she usually pays.

I've had a girl sneakily pay for me. It was upwards of almost 100, made me super happy even though I insisted on paying for her afterwards.

Yeah, but I don't think I've ever had a girl pay for me in London before. Of course its just personal experience in the end.

My girlfriend makes significantly more than me. I try to cover everything, but from time to time she'll point out our wage disparity and insist to cover or split some things.

I pay for me and my girlfriends dates most of the time, but when she knows Im running a little low or saving up for something shell pay a decent bit of the time, or at least split the bill.

My ex used to do this a lot as well.

She wasn't my girlfriend. But we were on our second dinner date. I paid for our meals on the first date. She grabbed the bill on the way out to pay our meals on the second. I felt really awkward standing next to her while she paid.

Several, and there's nothing wrong with both the man and the woman paying for dates.

Both men and woman work, and can pay for their own things.

This isn't the 1920s.

I paid 100% for all the meals when I dated, but that was a me thing.

This isn't really about what's right or wrong objectively, just a personal preference when dating or going out with your significant other.

I was just answering the title question. That and addressing the undertone of the subject of woman paying.

Because we do have some who seriously push its the man's responsibility to pay every time, despite it being a very outdated mindset that should not apply to modern times.

I'm of the position I don't care who asked who out, don't go out just assuming and expecting your date or company is paying for your meal. At the very least offer to pay for your own things, and if your date insists to don't worry about it, then OK, fine.

I've seen instances where people would even go out on group night outs and expect others to pay for them.

There was one where we ordered a lot of Pizza, and one person would be like "oh I forgot my purse" and people would have no choice but to cover them. We all exchanged looks around the table after that happened. Whats worse is they would still invite people like that to our nights out.

Whats more is when people would drink a lot more than others, and order tons more drinks. Then expect to share it equally amongst the rest of the group.

Historically, we'd kind of trade back and forth on who paid. Then it'd even out well enough

I like to pull out chairs, hold open doors, buy flowers, etc., so I tend to pay for the date as well. Their company is what I'm looking for.
It's always kinda been something when the lady has paid, that i prefer to pay anyways. When it starts to feel like now i owe them, what's the point? Then again, I'm still looking for my one. Maybe the next lady will be more open minded and not make it a deal.

When you marry and you're both employed, you should switch off paying. That's what we do most of the time, anyway.

This happened a lot for me when I was dating in the 90s. I am an old man, and my Dad kind of raised me to always pay for a lady. I was genuinely taken aback when I actually started dating by how many women either insisted on paying or on splitting the check. I think it is great-whatever makes everyone most comfortable. But I had to adjust my expectations for sure, in a good way. I really always wanted to pay as a show of respect for choosing to be in my company, but whatever made my date the most comfortable is what the first priority always was.

Something that has surprised me a little in the thread-writing about spouses paying for each others meals. Are more people separating finances like that now? My wife and I share all our funds in one big pot and have for 25 years. No judgement at all for different ways of doing things-every marriage is different and whatever works for all involved is great. I just havent thought of a difference between her money and my money in a long time.

Those types of people always say they are going to pay you back later, but later never arrives.
