I do it after since it will bug me if I do it before. I try to wait at least 30 minutes or ideally an hour after eating, though, since that's supposed to be better for your enamal.

I know you're really supposed to do it right away to get the bacteria off, but I can't do it if I'm going to eat.

Because the bacteria in your mouth multiplies overnight and you want to get rid of the bacteria and plaque that builds up instead of adding to it with breakfast. Also a lot of breakfast food are acidic so that damages your enamel, by brushing before, the flouride in your toothpaste helps protect it.

I brush at night too, but that feeling is always there when I wake up. Maybe it is exaggerated, but I for one don't like it and so brush before eating.
