They have 60 days to make a decision after hearing a case, IIRC. Which would make it June 25 I believe.

They're now adjourned until May 9th. Ugh.

And then I think the remaining days prior to trial when it got put on hold was like 88 or something like that. Assuming SCOTUS rejects the argument and sends the case back to Judge Chutkan, that would put the earliest trial date at Monday September 23rd. I can't remember how long the January 6th trial was expected to last.

This entire thread might have given me the reason why they wanted to bring this to the Supreme Court and hear arguments. They could have easily struck it down and used the lower courts ruling as an exhaustive litany of reasons why a president doesn't have immunity. Having this hearing in public on public record, forcing lawyers to admit in public what is and isn't presidential act for purposes of immunity, would go a long way to forming critical pieces of arguments for prosecution against the conspirators and accused.

Oh, but you see, immunity will only apply to Trump, because reasons.

And besides, I thought he had immunity, what with him getting away with so much without punishment. I mean, look at all these other court cases that he has coming that could do some serious damage to him. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those being dragged out on purpose till closer or even after the election? So that, if he wins, those cases can just be scrapped? The powers that be are letting him get away with so much, because scared or sycophantic. That right there is real immunity.

The appeal in the Second Circuit is already pending. He gets one appeal as of right (from the district court to the Second Circuit), and he (or Carroll, if the Second Circuit rules in Trump's favor) may petition SCOTUS for review of the Second Circuit's judgment. Four justices would then need to vote to actually hear the case.
