Three of these are absolute locks:
Iron Man - The original and still widely regarded as one of the best. Black Panther - Massive commercial and critical hit that was nominated for the Oscar for Best Picture and drew a whole new audience into the MCU and to a certain degree theaters in general. Avengers: Endgame - The second-highest grossing film of all time (was #1 at one point) and the finale to a generation of superhero films. So I have one spot left, I'll give it to... Guardians of the Galaxy - My personal favorite film in the canon and not an unreasonable pick for a fourth spot. It's often cited as one of the best and introduced this relatively obscure team to the public at large, spawning a very successful subseries and a pretty stellar video game. --- darkx ... The Avengers Guardians of the Galaxy Black Panther Iron Man should be the first pick. It was the first, made Iron Man go from B-lister to putting him right into one of the most popular comic book characters ever, and is still one of the most highly lauded movies in the entire franchise. Second, The Avengers. Though MCU movies were popular beforehand, The Avengers is around the point everything really came together as a franchise, as buildup, and it was stupidly popular. I remember when it came out I was in high school at the time and it was the only thing anyone was talking about for two weeks. That movie to me felt bigger than Infinity War or Endgame did even though those made more money because nothing like it had been done before. An argument exists (though I will not be the one to make it!) for it to be one of the most important movies of the entire 21st century. Guardians of the Galaxy set major trends for the rest of the franchise in terms of writing, and took things to space. It was the first movie to take a truly unproven, almost unknown Marvel series, make it into a MCU movie, and it went over big. I went with Black Panther in that last slot for its pivotal importance in representation and critical acclaim; even though it didn't win, a Marvel movie getting nominated for Best Picture was a giant deal. I think when it comes to "MCU movies people will still be talking about 30 years from now", Black Panther will probably be one of them. That movie is a big deal, in the MCU and otherwise. Yes I realize Infinity War and Endgame made the most money and were the giant events everything was building up to, but I have one problem: I see them as a two-part movie and feel like you can't just have one of them, and Avengers is too essential to boot off. So that would be a rushmore that's Iron Man and three Avengers movies. I feel that's not entirely accurate to represent the whole thing! --- Born to lose, live to win! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Notably - Winter Soldier is really cool because I believe it's the first MCU movie that meaningfully uses characters from different series that isn't an "everybody in the pool" movie. I think that type of interaction is a key to the MCU working. - Infinity War on the other hand is what made the fairly run of the mill Endgame the hype filled spectacle it is. Endgame is only made what it is with Infinity War-- otherwise it's just Avengers again. I do like them both quite a lot but it's not just "they're in my top 4" (my top 4 is Avengers, Winter Soldier, Civil War, and Thor Ragnarok) --- No problem! Iron Man: The original, no one thought it was gonna be so good and kickstart a whole big universe.
The Avengers: It fulfilled Iron Man's promise and kicked the MCU into high gear. Winter Soldier: The peak, probably never to be surpassed. Infinity War: Personally I think it was dissapointing, but it was the climax and where they had intended to lead to in the first place.
