This is scarier than I could have ever imagined. Wife thinks I may be having a small stroke. Seem to be able to read and write ok, but speech just isn't making sense to me for the most part. I can hear the words just fine but it's like they don't make it from my ears to my mind so I can't make sense of them. Everything feels strange now.

I'm curious, can/could you still speak verbally like normal? I know deaf people have a tough time verbalizing so I don't know if this would have a similar effect. I imagine it would be hard but maybe not, you're able to write out words and perhaps verbalizing them yourself is a possibility since you already understand the words before you say them, as opposed to somebody else saying them when you have to process it afterwards.

Jeez, the brain is a crazy thing. We take for granted how well it usually works, but when I hear about stuff like this it really makes me think of it like some kind of organic electronic machine with bad connections.

Yep. Blood work and pee work. I'm hoping they'll do an MRI or CT so I'm gonna ask the doc about that. Probably gonna be here til morning at the least.

Which is certainly a likely conclusion, especially since you can seem in otherwise good shape and develop one via a blood pressure issue.

Either a matter of different parts of the brain or something in your ear could be malfunctioning.

if it's going away, it's likely a transient ischemic attack,a mini-stroke with no lasting effects, which eventually leads to an actual stroke.

If it's a TIA I don't seem to have typical symptoms. No sided weakness, no slurred speech or tingling sensation though.

It is possible though we will see. Not everyone that has a TIA will have a full stroke though. They have a greater likelihood of having one but people can also have a TIA and never have a stroke.
