Traded in a bunch of games that i will never play to Gamestop for that trade in deal right now. Walked away with $538.

A guy on NeoGAF was selling his gray Switch and pro controller for $350 shipped.

Gamestop has B2G1 free used games, so I ordered Zelda, MK8, and Disgaea 5. Also threw in the Zelda expansion pass. Total $138.49.

Gamestop has used joycons as well, $40 each side. Some weird promo where you get $17 off if you order two used joycons, plus another $4 off each joycon for my Pro membership. Total $54.99.

Total spent out of pocket: $5.48 for a Switch, 3 games, Zelda DLC, pro controller, two more joycons. The guy I bought the Switch from also threw in an extra screen protector.

Assuming the Gamestop used joycons are in good condition and i get the actual cases with the games i ordered, I'll be one super happy camper.

The promo was an extra 60% in trade in value if you traded in 6 or more games. If you're a Pro member, you get 70%. I signed up for pro because i would come out ahead with more value even after the $15 sign up.

Some prices i got back were neat.

Xenoblade I paid $30 for and got $47.50
Zelda BotW Wii U I got for $48 and got about $56 back
Fire Emblem Awakening gave me $34
Fire Emblem Conquest gave me $29 (what a shitty game)
Pokemon SoulSilver gave $34
Pokemon Sun gave $29
New SMB2 gave $22
Pokemon White 2 gave $25.50
Xenogears gave me $8.50 lol

EB Games Canada was offering a crazy trade in deal last December which is when I cashed in on most of my games. $70 for Mario Kart 8 4 months before Mario Kart 8 Deluxe came out? Yes please. $80 for The Last Guardian, which I bought for $35? Hell yeah.

They won't take them sealed. Also you can't open them at the store and then trade 'em in. Found that out when I tried to ditch a copy of Rainbow Six Siege that came with my Xbone.

That Gamestop promo is beyond ridiculous right now. I really wanted to get a Switch this week, so I took $420 and turned that into:

A Nintendo Switch
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Zelda Botw
World of Final Fantasy Limited Edition
Atelier Sopnie
Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
Tales of Zestiria
Super Paper Mario (Non GH)

(all games were complete)

and another $850 in Trade Credit leftover.

It's the rare perfect storm of promos at the same time:

70% Bonus for trading in 6+ games
Buy 2 Get 1 free on all preowned games
End of the month trade in value boost

The promos run until July 4th. You can literally buy 6 First party 3DS games for about $140 and trade them in at another Gamestop for $255.

Anything close to $1000 in one trade and the employees might look at you crazy - an overzealous employee might even give you a hard time. They won't take in more than one copy of each game per platform per store per day. And if you pass $2000 or trade in 5 copies of the same game, their system will ban you from further trade ins.

Otherwise, you are good to go. Just check the trade in value on Gamestop.com before you buy. If the base trade in value of a game is currently $25, the promo will give you $42.50 for it.

i bought the switch from a guy on GAF, so I'll have to buy eshop/psn/steam cards and sell them at a little discount to get the cash

so it's an extra step, but i end up with a switch sooner, and it looks new. with a screen protector, pro controller as well. no tax for $350 when it would have been $430ish to buy the two things new

gamestop doesn't sell retro games in store (for the most part)

theres an entirely different method and separate guildlines to follow when taking in retro games

retro games are older and usually dont' work for the most part so we have to send them in to the warehouse to get refurbished, and that usually involves a fee for the customer. so no promotion is the way to not make the customer feel bad

I assume all my genesis games had their own SKUs, since the names of the games are on the receipt. It has the 10% Powerup bonus, but not the Promo #19889

If this ever gets worked out, is there anyway they can retroactively get me my 60%, or am I shit out of luck since it's a finalized transaction?
