Board 8 > Wow. The Xenoblade fanbase is fast approaching Sonic levels of bad.

The entire Xenoblade 2 board is flooded with fanboys/girls b****ing about how low the metacritic score is. Nonsensical topics about reviewers being salty and comparisons to P5 and how it doesn't deserve 90+ when Xenoblade 2 is not cracking 85. Jesus christ.

It is an eigty freaking four people. No need to lose your minds over it.

I'm eagerly awaiting to play the game when I arrive home from work (if my son lets me :p) but yeah despite what it scores I know I'm gonna enjoy it.

I'm not. I was there when the Zelda fanbase was crucifying IGN when Twilight Princess got an 8.8.

I just thought people are older now. That was like what? About a decade ago. Also I expected more from a fanbase which I usually considered reasonable.

Literally 80% of the topics in the Xenoblade 2 board at one point was moaning and ****ing about the 84 metascore.

Also by Sonic fanbase I'm referencing them more for how bad the fanbase generally is. Not for review reveals only.

look at 2's artstyle change and the reason things are bad is clear

Nobody was surprised that Forces was getting 5s, maybe disappointed, but not angry or too vocal

If this was a topic about terrible OCs or furry deviantartists, you would be correct

However I believe the group you are looking to ridicule is "Zelda fans"

Please refrain from taking cheap shots at Sonic in the future, there are many other situations where it is worthy of ridicule

I wasn't talking about the Sonic fanbase regarding review reveals. I was talking about how the Xenoblade community is quickly becoming as toxic as the Sonic community in general. Where the fanbase is just negative about everything all around, blaming developers, blaming reviewers, demeaning other games from the same genre, demeaning people who have positive things to say about the game, etc.

It is one thing if the game actually reviewed poorly. Which it didn't. It has a respectable score of 84 in Metacritic, which is honestly around the range I expected it to be (My estimate was around 85-87). JRPGs normally don't review as well as games from other genres. The Xenoblade 2 board exploding as if the game tanked critically like Mass Effect: Andromeda is a bit ridiculous when most reviewers are actually praising the game.

There are people cancelling their pre-order or ****ing on the game because the metacritic score didn't meet their expectations.

There are people who bought the game, loved it but have developed an inferiority complex where they have to **** on other games from the same genre which reviewed better.

There are people celebrating the fact that the game didn't review well (their words not mine) because they can't afford a Switch to play the game.

In short, the Xenoblade 2 board is a complete utter ****show right now that the CE board may seem like a warm hospitable place right now. And I understand if it is hard to believe but you can see for yourself.

I guess I'm bringing this up because I always thought the Xenoblade community were a chill group of people. I didn't see a reaction nearly this bad during the release of X which also got an 84 and had much higher expectations. So it is kinda surprising and sad to see this happen now.

Any game series that debuted on or primarily resides on Nintendo consoles will inherit the terrible Nintendo fanboys who will scream into the night that their games are the best games

Except for maybe like Red Steel or Geist I guess

How do you even read these game boards? They have people that can't differentiate between then and than and you're and your. It's obvious these people are children with no jobs that can't afford games so they are extra salty when the ones they do get are not universally praised.

The only notable review drama I can recall recently were Prey and Hellblade, but in both cases it was 1 review, not the aggregate, and also justified.

It wasn't even an aggregate - it was ONE score for one game - and was still 10x the shitstorm as anything we've seen since. And it was the BEST score ever to receive a large scale freakout. Magical times.
