When I'm out and commuting I don't wanna play a serious console level game... at most I'll play a simple game on my phone. I have other shit I could do like read a book or listen to a podcast.

And it means you have freedom within your house. You don't have to station yourself in front of the TV. You can play in bed or in the kitchen. With a switch you can play lying in bed on your side, with the screen turned onto its side in front of you.

I mean ask less of them? If the implications are right, the company that produces the most gameplay centric games end up doing less? It's not like the 3DS for example had gameplay void games when their MH is considered more complex and difficult than MHW released for home consoles.

Graphics are a part of the video game sure, but it's just a part in the end. You can have a pretty ass game devoid of substance or gameplay. There are far too many examples to count that lands there, and then you get a bunch of people start talking about how video games aren't as fun as they used to be.

Your mindset there is a start of such problems

I agree with TC.

The only mobile games I play are basic ones that serve as time wasters, 10mins at the most.

I'm not interested in any mobile gaming, otherwise. Or handheld gaming. Or laptop gaming.

Nobody is "obsessed" with playing games on the go, you're either exaggerating or just misinformed. Just as you would prefer to read or listen to podcasts while commuting, other people would like to play their favourite games. That's all there is to it.

I agree. I can't really enjoy a game when there's all kinds of distractions around me and I'm looking at a tiny screen.

I like to sit in the quiet comfort of my own home when I game or watch TV/movies. It enhances the experience.
This is me. Hell I can't even play with the Wiipad or undocked Switch. Any GB and GBA games I own I play on my gameboy player for the SNES and GC.

In our house this is the case. I never bought a portable system till I had kids. Now we have a GBA, DS, N3DSXL, ipods and tablets.

I don't get it either, but people bring it up a lot. People talk like it's a great reason to buy a game again. I will admit though, I enjoy bringing Xenoblade 2 into the bathroom with me.

It's very rare that I play my 3ds anywhere but my room too.

lol not everyone still plays all of their video games in their bedroom.

When you start living with a significant other it's already a big advantage. You can play games without hogging the TV or leaving to go to another room.

i am referring to phone-based games not handhelds.

the market for these is rapidly growing and targets the subset of the population who will not pay 60 for one game

handhelds still target that demographic.

that is the market that production firms are obsessed with though, not handhelds. if anything, they neglect handhelds significantly.

While I still don't have anything more than Mario Odyessy, I'd say if you do (I only play it docked) budget either $25 for a wired controller or $70 for a wireless. I do not like the joycon set up controller. I just bought one of the wired controllers but haven't had a chance to try it out. But it's basically the same as the Wii U Pro controller. And it has a 8 ft breakaway cord.
