i should not have to deal with 3 different types of problems of the game failing to even start up

with or without the FAR mod installed, same issues.

the frustrating thing is that it was working fine earlier and absolutely nothing has changed so it makes no sense.

I dunno I got it to work with FAR and I'm pretty bad when it comes to playing on PC

There was a time that it stopped working so I stopped playing for a bit but it turned out I just needed to update and reinstall FAR, and that was easy.

FAR has not updated since then (i was using most up to date). the game just decided it didn't want to boot.

i'm over it. i have other games to play and dont want to bother troubleshooting when chances are the game's just gonna shit out on me again later today for some other idiot reason

I'd suggest reinstalling the game and then reinstalling FAR because it really should work fine with the mod installed, but sounds like you're already moving on.

I never had problems with booting. Googled it and found this:

Remove all files and folders until only these remain:

Then see if the game works. If it does, use the automatic installer for FAR to reinstall the mod.

Some other fixes I found:

If you add steam_appid.txt to the NieRAutomata directory, with the contents:
524220

The game can be launched from the .exe. That method works much more reliably.

As well as uninstalling/reinstalling FAR, or reverting FAR to an earlier version.

did this, got some error about "no graphic memory"

which was my third boot error and the precise point when i gave up and uninstalled

Yeah that's weird. I guess try uninstalling/reinstalling the game and running it without FAR to see if that works. PC gaming is weird sometimes and errors can crop up that wouldn't be on different computers.

Oh it was working without FAR. Huh.

I guess installing and reinstalling is the best bet. Add FAR afterwards. I've heard this program is simple and if you add Nier to it that also helps (assuming you're playing in Full Screen):

I dont have any issues besides the game being horribly optimized too. Its a game I should be able to run at 4K with no issues but cant.

I think I had to manually install FAR in order to get it work correctly? I don't remember the exact steps I took, but I think there's a step by step troubleshooting guide somewhere on the steam page that I followed and eventually got it to work.

Played it cracked, didn't have port issues besides-
1.Game crash randomally - people suggested to use only half the cores and it fixed it
2.Toggle between items using the scrolling wheel only - is this changeable? because this is really stupid and I hate my scroll wheel

There was a level with these blob things (it's been a while) and you had to get to the end of the level before they moved and blocked off all the pathways. After getting frustrated from numerous attempts, I looked at a video guide online and saw that the guy was doing the exact same thing I was except his blobs were moving more slowly. After fiddling around with settings I discovered that the blobs were moving at different speeds on a lower game resolution (I had it low for the sake of my then-crappy laptop). For...whatever reason. Beat the level immediately after upping the resolution.
