The younger grades obviously like kindergarten-1st grade

Seems really odd/funny to me in retrospect. Sorry Timmy but youre a bad colorer. You should probably just apply for a trade program on welding.

I don't remember being graded but I remember at least one teacher that would hang the pictures up in order of good to bad. Mine was always towards the end. I couldn't stay in the lines and drew other things on the coloring sheet. I ended up with a Masters in Fine Art :)

I don't have a recollection of that.

I love colouring with young ones nowadays.

I don't remember coloring, but I do remember being taught cursive writing and how important it would be to learn it. LOL.

I hardly ever hand write anything anymore. Most things are typed on a computer. The few times I do hand write anything, I don't write in cursive. The one and only time I ever use cursive is for my signature.

I don't remember if they issued grades for it, but they did urge us to color inside the lines for coloring book pages. Hated having to use the thicker crayons for that.

Just one. Miss senora Hibert. I was like, 5 or something, but I still remember. She was a witch, nasty and bitter. Who nags on little kids for not "coloring inside the lines"? I wanted to see her get thrashed, so I was always hoping she'd do something really bad so she'd get busted. 'Cause y'know, I was a helpless kid. Sad how as a child I and everyone I knew were under the impression that as kids, nobody would listen to us or take us seriously...
You know what's funny? Nowadays, I'm a damn fine artist.

Bitch.

I didn't have preschool, so generally speaking, once I started school the time period where people generally try to encourage you to color inside the lines or care whether you're doing it "properly" had long since passed.

I DID have art classes from 1-5, but those were generally more concerned with whether or not you were actually putting effort into something rather than what you were producing, so you could pretty much shit out an abstract mess and still get credit for it. And if I remember correctly, those "secondary" sort of classes (Art, Music, Library) didn't actually have grades as much as they did ratings for participation ("Satisfactory", "Needs Improvement", that sort of thing).

I can't actually remember most of what I drew or painted or sculpted in art class because I was never really interested in visual arts at all, but I'm sure most of it probably looked like total shit, and I still always got "Satisfactory" grades.

Yes. If you colored outside the lines, you had to spend an hour in the box.
