Barring an out of the blue rally, one of the nailed on matches in the Finals Division is Mario vs Sephiroth.

I think we can all agree Sephy isn't going to pull 61.60% like he did in 2003, but the feeling I get is a lot of people are thinking Mario will win here. Why is that?

Apart from the Draven infested 2013, we haven't really ever seen a Mario that compares to Sephy- why now, is he really going to be that much weaker and what are the signs that point to that?

Everything FF7 related was much weaker in 2013 than normal, and logic dictates it should be weaker now.

Sephiroth lost to Mewtwo that year, and had already lost to Snake in 2010.

Mario? I think Kirby has a shot against Sephiroth now.

Heck Ryu vs Sephiroth is a debated match from what I've seen.

Mario has an Odyssey boost for sure. Plus FF7 flopped as a whole in 2013.

I'm one of the only people that both has Sephiroth and feels goodish about it.

Sephiroth can't get rallied wins, but Mario is one of the few characters arguably worse at getting rally support.

Captain Falcon is completely sincerely a better bet than Ryu or Shepard is

44 Board 8 Users calling for a Mario win and only 1 for Sephy, despite many still calling for Cloud>Mario.

It boggles the mind!

I do wonder how much user votes counting for 2 will come into play here with that kind of prediction rate, but it seems a good one to go against the cookie.
