He isnt exactly wrong. Aside from Smash if you dont count mobile FF games Cloud hasnt really had anything that mattered in a decade or more. I guess theres Dissidia, but I never see anyone talk about it

well, Cloud is also the closest thing to being the face of FF as a franchise if it had to be represented by one character

he probably gains some strength from that.

The FF franchise lol...its about terrible online games and boy bands driving cars around last I checked...but sure Clouds its "face" if you want to go that route. Not sure why you would though, FF is even more irrelevant than he (as a square character) is.

@DrYuya Don't agree. When people think of JRPG's they mostly think of crazy hair and huge swords. And Cloud has both. Plus FF 7 is the most famous of the FF games too. Why you think he got in Smash instead of someone else?

Cloud used to beat Link in these contests often, but as others have said FF7 hasn't done anything in a long time.
Breath of the Wild alone is enough to give Link a significant advantage over Cloud.

I don't think Cloud will be able to go toe to toe with Link until after the FF7 Remake comes out, whenever that will be.

7R hype is actually pretty minimal. Very few people think Square will do it justice and what little they have even revealed at all hasnt been stuff most people seemed to care about, but hey maybe that stuff was scrapped too since it probably hasnt even really gotten started and wont be out for many years
