So they need to explicitly say the word never in order to take them at their word? They went out of their way to say that only Pokemon from the Galar region are transferable to Sword and Shield via Pokemon Home. So ok, maybe they'll add them back in a future installment... but as far as these games go, yes, it's doomsday for those who care, unless they add the rest via DLC.

I really don't know if that's the same situation. They explicitly said the reason was in order to manage the increasingly huge number of Pokemon, and to ensure quality control and balance. There was no mention of adding them in later, just that Pokemon are only transferrable if they are found in the Galar region.

Not comparable.

Ruby/Sapphire had actual hardware issues preventing trading from the previous games, and they also completely overhauled the game mechanics, making them incompatible either way.

Black/White allowed you to bring back you old Pokemon once you beat the game.

In this case, they're flatout disallowing you access to some of your old Pokemon even though the tech is there.

Also, ruby and sapphire HAD all the Pokemon in the data. If the cut Pokemon arent even in the data the only other game thats done this is Lets Go... which had entirely different mechanics from the main series and isnt a serious main series game.

Yeah, this is worrisome. I try to avoid datamine spoilers, but as the release approach, I definitely need to see if the older Pokemon are even programmed into the game.
