Cracker Barrel said it won't host an event by a Tennessee church whose pastor was a detective who preached that the government should execute gay people. The restaurant chain said Tuesday on Twitter that it's not affiliated with All Scripture Baptist Church or its pastor, ex-Knox County sheriff's detective Grayson Fritts.

Cracker Barrel said it disagrees with their statements of hate and divisiveness and the June 29 event won't be allowed at the restaurant. "We serve everyone who walks through our doors with genuine hospitality, not hate, and require all guests to do the same," Tennessee-based Cracker Barrel said in its tweeted statement.

Fritts has said his beliefs didn't affect his work in the sheriff's office. He took a buyout and no longer works there. District Attorney Charme Allen is reviewing pending cases investigated by Fritts.

In response to Cracker Barrel's statement, All Scripture Baptist Church said they were only going to Cracker Barrel for "meeting and eating" and called the restaurant chain hypocrites.

"If the 'LGBT' community hosted an event there and Christians complained they wouldn't ban the 'LGBT' group, they would tell us they don't 'discriminate' against anyone," the church said in an emailed statement. "But hey, it's their business. They can have a double standard if they want to."

Good job Cracker Barrel. If I had one near me I'd eat at one.

When I saw Cracker Barrel trending this was the last thing I expected to see, but good on them! I now feel marginally less shame for enjoying Cracker Barrels underseasoned food.

They seem to think complaining about people saying you should be killed for existing is in the same ballpark as saying people should be killed for existing.

This is a great example of people spending several hours lighting off skull-shaped fireworks into the night sky to indicate and draw attention to exactly which hill they are dying on.

In regards to the church, this has to be the dumbest reply Ive ever seen. They are literally comparing someone complaining about LGBT (not even a specific reason, just complaining) and literally calling for the deaths of a group of people for existing. Are they really this dumb?

Good grief dude, why would you say something like this?

Are you an undercover militant atheist trying to defame Christans or something?

I've heard it before, but it was just some random dude with a camera in his face. Somebody walked around what looked like a college campus and asked a bunch of random people what they thought of Christians, then put the five or six most extreme remarks out of probably dozens or hundreds into a montage, you know, that sort of thing.

Nah, he's most likely a Christian just trying to follow what his holy book said was cool.

I mean false equivalencies on this level are basically the Christian Rights go-to defense mechanism. Everybody who doesnt just bend over & cater to their every fucked up whim is a hypocrite.

I don't think this deserves applause, it's really the bare minimum. Literally any major modern company would do the same thing, the only difference is most major companies would never be dealing with this kind of person in the first place.

Cracker Barrel has historically been one of the most gay-unfriendly food companies in America. In the 90s they declared an official stance calling for employees to be dismissed if they did not display "normal heterosexual values" (and carried it through until the outrage got to them)

And in 2008 it was given the worst score out of any food-related company for LGBT employee working conditions.

I'm glad their standard is not so low as to associate with "kill the gays" pastors but I'm not going to reward them for that. Not trying to be a killjoy but I just think it's worth saying, since most people don't really know about their track record.
