Absolutely. The Earth will still be livable, but things will be MUCH worse.

More or less. Things won't be that bad, but still quite bad.

I'm not sure. I don't know what to think. Plus, you know...predicting the future is hard.

Not really. I expect things will be worse, but not much.

No. Environmentalists are completely wrong.

Hard to say. Irreversible damage in 50 years? Probably. Will we feel the effects in years? Not the full brunt.

The environment was already ruined in the 1970s. It got better.

To be fair, didn't just magically get better. For example with the ozone hole, The Montreal Protocol [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_Protocol ] was created to fix it - and it worked. After 32 years, it's not a big problem anymore.
If the EPA and other agencies (including international ones) fail to act meaningfully, then problems won't just fix themselves.

Talk about uninformed if you think XR is the source of this sort of thinking.

Do you deny that, right now, they are the single most important* environmental group that exists?

I learned recently that China and India are actually quite a bit more green than they used to be. By that I mean literally--there are more trees now.

Brazil, on the other hand...

Much like the US in the 70s, they've finally realized it's probably a bad idea to toss old cars into a lake.

The top option is still in the lead.

So: for people that feel the planet is going to be really messed up, can you describe the specific conditions? Also, how they impact upon humans in particular?

The ocean pollution is going to be a bigger factor than the air because once it reaches a certain level of acidity all the fish will start dying off-- and once that food source goes, humans will feel the impact.

No one outside of Britain gives a shit about them.

Either way, thinking they're the source of that thinking is just ignorant.

Around half of all wildlife where we can study it has died in the last 40 years.

North America has experienced a loss in the overall total bird population approaching 3 billion birds, or 29% since 1970

Most comprehensive assessment of its kind; 1,000,000 species threatened with extinction due to climate change.

It's already starting to happen. The ecosystem begins to collapse and it affects farming. Global hunger has begun to rise in the past few years and it's only going to get worse. Poorer countries are feeling the effects right now. The refugee and homeless situation will only get more intense.

Depends on where you live. If things continue on their current course food and water shortages are going to be widespread in many countries, and the world is going ot have one hell of a migrant crisis. Think billions of people fleeing their homes to find someplace livable.

The average first worlder might be worse off overall but it's unlikely to be catastrophically bad.

Worsened, more frequent wildfires in California, Miami flooding on sunny days, massive refugee crises from places where the effects will be felt hardest (due to a lack of infrastructure, or because they're already among the world's hottest).

If the Democrats were serious about saving the environment the only way to significantly improve it realistically is if the entire world returned to mid evil times and everybody gave up their current standard of living.

This means significantly reducing passenger airline travel, personal vehicle and commercial travel, and downsize the gas guzzling military industry for starters. Which of course they arent going to do, let alone the rest of the world.

Also I have to say that climate change denial is not a very good stance to have when youre still going to be around in 50 years

And quit splicing in socialist schemes in the process. I swear we've been losing this fight for 30 years because we are more interested in open wallets and funds rather than plans focused on the economics of it.

Infrastructure isn't sexy. You gotta inject some sort of class warfare into it, to get anyone to even pretend to care.
