Is in empire when yoda is being a shit and going through all of Lukes stuff, eats that stick thing, and then R2 tries to take something away from hit so he just starts whacking at R2 with a stick

"MINE, MINE! MINE! MINE!"

All of Yoda's Empire scenes are gold but especially when you first meet him and he's fucking with Luke.

For me, it's hard to beat the whole Vader / Luke fight in front of Palpatine in Return of the Jedi though. And I absolutely mean before the "NOOOOOOOOO!" was added in later.

For me it's a tossup between Vader's rampage at the end of Rogue One, which is just fucking phenomenal and still gives me chills whenever I watch it, and everything that happens in the Battle of Endor after Luke defeats Vader. The lightsaber toss is just an incredibly powerful gesture for something so simple, the Emperor finally shows his true power, Vader redeems himself, and it's all tied together by a sensational-yet-underrated piece of John Williams's work.

And fuck George Lucas forever for ruining it with that stupid "NOOOOOO" addition in the last round of edits. I'm still stuck with my 2006 DVDs because that's the last time an unedited version of the movie came out that doesn't have bullshit spattered all over the best parts.

It sucks because when I went to show my daughter the OT for the first time all I had were his special editions he made in the 90s on DVD. So not only did we get the shittier ending to RotJ we get that terrible & cringey music video at Jabba's. I actually had to say I was sorry she had to see that, and that it used to be better lol.

Those are actually two changes I'm kind of neutral on.

Like yeah, the new Jabba's palace sequence is kind of crap, but the old one really wasn't much better and it's a spot where the old puppets they used really show their age.

I think both of the endings had their charm. Yub Nub was kind of a nice, folksy ending to the whole thing (although it is *very* 80s), whereas the '97 one is a bit more galactic in scale. The only version of that I hate is the post-prequel version where Lucas decided to slap a gungan screaming "WEESA FREE!!" over it, just to wreck the mood, then replace Sebastian Shaw with Hayden fucking Christiensen leering at an Ewok.

Yeah you could totally see where he was setting the table for the prequels with the new ending, and it's not *bad*, it's just not what I grew up seeing in the theater as a little kid or re-watching a million times on TV and video later.

I think Yub Nub is also more fitting if there were only going to be the OT and nothing else, seems way more final.

In a joking manner I was always a fan of the weird noises other alien species made when they died in the pod race in episode 1.

as far as a real moment? probably just the entire death star takedown trench runs in episode 4.

I loved the explosion of the Death Star from the original version, especially the way some of the bits obviously hit the camera lens. The edited versions of that and the destruction of Alderaan with the stupid ring explosion just suck.

They don't even really make all that much sense, because there's no real motivating factor that would cause the shockwave to form as a ring as opposed to a full sphere (which would just look like a normal explosion).

I read somewhere that Harrison Ford intentionally didn't practice his lines for that part and opted to ad lib it, since he felt it would feel more authentic to the situation if he improvised.

The battle of Hoth is probably my favorite part of the entire series. Not only is it technically beautiful, but its really cool seeing Luke as a cool, confident and respected leader and fighter for the first time. He was always just a little farm boy up until the end of A New Hope

My favorite is that one sean in The Last Jedi where Luke literally yeets the lightsaber off the cliff. I literally died seeing that. No literally, I was at the bottom of the cliff and the lightsaber turned on mid-air.

One that stands out for me is in TLJ right after Kylo kills Snoke. I think they could have played it better (should have just had Kylo make the one hand gesture instead of the repeated one, and didn't need to show the saber moving), but the musical sting when it happens, the look of absolute surprise on Snoke's face, and then the way that, just as Rey grabs her lightsaber, there's this suuuuuper-slow reprise of the Force Theme before it transitions into the battle music...chills, man.
