Physically and mentally, climbing Ben Nevis (highest mountain in the UK). You literally start having conversations with yourself two thirds of the way about quitting and turning back. "We can't do this...if we turn back now we can be resting again at ground level in just a few hours..." learned a lot about my limits and mental resilience to keep going.

Deciding to put my 13 and a half year old dog to sleep. It was the right choice, her hips gave out and she couldn't walk anymore, and her mind was going away, but it's still terribly hard to decide to end the life of someone you love, it's always going to pop up in your mind "did I do the right thing?" even if you know objectively that you did.

I went to this wrestling camp when I was like 12 or 13, tore some muscle in my leg and pushed through it till the end of the day.

Coming back from and overdose

we're glad you're alive from that situation. hardest thing for me was dealing with the so called "hell month" with having 100$ to my name after making sure the rent was paid before having to buy dog food and food for myself plus utility bills.

it was a crappy month.

Reading everyones experiences, I no longer think Ive ever done anything really hard. I mean Ive done a few jobs that were kind of demanding, but I bet everyone has done that.

All Im going to add is Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

Alot of the things I think were easy were really difficult, according to other folks.
Perception is a bitch.

To me, the hardest thing I ever did was change certain aspects of my personality to allow me to go further in my career.
It's taken months of work.

But that's not what most folks would say is the "most difficult".

Getting my Bachelors and Masters degree after taking 4 years off after high school.

This may not be as hard to others, but for me it was. My entire life I was never book smart. I never took school seriously and always got bad grades. I started community college at 22 and then went on to get my Associate degree and then went on to get my bachelors and masters with a 3.9 GPA. It was hard because I had to change my entire approach to school and my entire mindset. Ive never once studied in my life and I had to study for some of the toughest courses ever. I truly busted my ass off and it paid off, thank god.

This is actually my next fitness goal. How strict was your diet for this? I heard abs are made in the kitchen - is this saying true?

Yes!!!
I used a modified paleo diet. I had to watch my sugar intake a great deal as well. The first few weeks were hell and I felt extremely weak. Then afterwards, my energy levels went through the roof.

Thank you. I started going to the gym and dieting. I did 35-40 minutes of cardio 5 days a week and light weight training. I also cut out all junk food, simple carbs and added sugar.

The hardest part was realizing I legitimately had a food addiction and needed to stop looking at food to make me feel better or reward myself. Like I had a bad day today. Im gonna order pizza and wings tonight or stress eating an entire bag of potato chips >_>

I had to put my 13 year old labrador to sleep a few weeks ago. He was very ill and the only alternative was to let him suffer.

I'll never forget that day.

As much as it's a silly answer, it's also an honest one:

Coming to terms with the fact that my father dying when I was young was not an act of abandonment on his part, but simply really shit luck. I know it sounds silly, but it was probably the biggest struggle I've ever faced. Doesn't make sense, I know.

Thanks for the info. I like that its straight forward and not a diet secret or magic pill, like a lot of people try to sell. I dont have nearly the same amount to lose, but Im gonna do what you did and start the day after Christmas.

Honestly, dealing with this year has been pretty difficult. Coping with my first cousin / childhood best friend's accidental death right after my grandmother's death (who would've thought they'd have died within a few months of one another?) Then totalling my car, facing some financial difficulties, and a few other issues I'd care not to go over right in the same time period. It was tough to deal with all at once. Things are looking up though!

Fractured my spine while marching drum corps...basically professional marching band. Once it fractured, I was wearing a 45 pound drum every day for 12 hours and living on a tour bus for 3 months afterwards. 12 hour rehearsals were probably burning 4000 calories a day too...with the fractured spine.

Hurt like hell. Wanted to quit constantly. But I pushed through the pain and now literally anything in my life feels easy in comparison.

People try to make it out to be more than it is: just eat less and move more.

Although I will say, I plateaued my weight loss journey at one point and I needed to switch things up. Thats when I started doing fasted cardio, which is just doing cardio in the morning on an empty stomach. That helped me to lose the next 20 or so pounds.

Off the top of my head waiting in the hospital emergency wait room to get checked out and get pain meds.

Had a swollen apendix and needed morphine had to wait from 12 am to 4am for it. Excruciating pain non stop no position I sat or laid down in would ease the pain.
