Granted the Yakuza characters started coming out a month ago, but still. Like I hadn't heard of the game until my Yakuzie contacts let me know that it was happening.

Of course I'm pretty sure few other people heard of it either.

I played it. Spent a little money on it too, but it basically became impossible to progress after a certain point and the previous missions weren't difficult enough and didn't give good rewards once you got the first clear.

They could have benefitted from some kind of unlimited mode that didn't cost anything but didn't give anything.

Oh well.

A year and a half. Came out two Novembers ago.

It's a cute concept. It may just be a match game, but the characters come from everywhere.

You got Sonic, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Shinobi, Super Monkey Ball, Shenmue, Jet Set Radio, Phantasy Star, Crazy Taxi, House of the Dead, Valkyria Chronicles, Altered Beast, ChuChu Rocket, and Virtua Fighter.

You know if they were generous they could leave up an offline version of the game where you can unlock characters without microtransactions. The game would work fine without it.

But mobile gaming don't roll like that.

The game was free player unfriendly. More so then most.many faces games I can play for a while before buying a difficulty wall that forces me to ether pay or quit. In this game it came much quicker.

I hate when that happens. One of the only Mobile games i enjoyed was Star Ocean Anamnesis. It was very F2P friendly AND had a great battle system and many of the classic characters (all fully rendered in 3d) with some cool alternatives for each character. It went down in about 18 months.

Meanwhile shitty games like Ark Knights or Girls Frontline and the 3000 other lazy P2W games like it thrive. And i cant see why. The characters all look like some Gacha Life trash with no inspired design. They all have the animation of a paper doll, and the games are all full of pointless fluff.

I recently finished Kiwami as my first Yakuza + am about a chapter or two before finishing Kiwami 2. I was glad to see your name on all those great guides. After K2 I'm going for 0 + Lost Paradise.

The answer is "waifus".
...and decent gacha rates.

If you intend to survive for any extended period of time, most mobile games will need decent waifus & reasonable probability to get them. Few exceptions to this, & most of those are super casual, easy access stuff like Candy Crush.

Yeah I can still remember back when I started playing Yakuza games. Once Y5 got announced I was like... eh, let's see if I can do a guide for it.

Honestly I've always been a rather solitary person, so while I do miss my friends and hugs, I've obviously been under a lot less pressure to go out and socialize, so there's an odd comfort to that. Doesn't fix the loneliness, but it gives me purpose at least.
