Edit: actually, everyone in general gets it rough. Like three characters (Alex, the explorer dude, and the reporter/photographer) don't get horribly murdered).

I swear I remember reading an article that said that it was originally planned for the firefighter to kill himself after giving Edward that package but it was considered too dark for the game.
