No, most of the ones I used to watch have gotten really stale or have outright quit in the past year, or are covering content I don't care about. I watch vtuber content now.

Only gaming content I look forward to these days is Jrose11 who makes really boring Pokemon challenge runs which usually pout me to sleep.

I don't know if I picked a bad video by him, but Jesus christ, he drags shit on. I watched his video on violence in video games to almost 3 mins, and most of that was him showing clips of killing in video games and then listing all sorts of different ways to kill people in video games. I get it, there are lots of different ways to cause violence in video games, you don't need to point it out for 3 mins.

Is that just a bad episode, or are all of his videos like that? I really don't want to try another video if it's just going to be that stupid again.

The point is that there are a bunch of different ways to kill, but dialogue only has 3-4 options.

Generally that's not how he talks about stuff though, that's just a unique video.

Bundy is great. Maybe the Easter Egg Hunter or oddheader? Zeltik is good too, but he's pure Zelda lore. SpiffingBrit does exploits. Scott The Woz does systems and games. Certifiably In-game does a mix of general sci-fi lore and has a series mostly about Star Trek Online lore. Outside Xbox/ouside extra does some game breakdowns. Rabbid Luigi does some obscure lists. Erik Langdon RPG does playthroughs and game essays. Davidinc does much of the same, just gayer (nothing wrong with that) TheGebs24 does some playthroughs and a lot of retro collecting.

That's about it off the top of my head from my own sub list.

Wait, I forgot Game Makers Toolkit and Robbaz.

I skipped obvious ones like AVGN and Game Theory, and Zero Punctuation...

I have the feeling I'm forgetting a couple but if they come to mind, I'll throw them out there.

Nerrel has a great one on Majora's Mask 3D. There's another guy that made retrospectives for every Zelda game, and they were decent.

I've tried watching a lot of the suggestions and none of them really clicked with me until the Toolkit guy. He's interesting as fuck, thanks man.

No problem. I obviously like my list since I subbed them, but GMT is definitely a sharp dude.

He's probably the most "nuts and bolts" out of all of my recs.

KingK? He's good, very soothing voice.

That's the guy. His voice was a bit nerd-nasally for me but not too bad. His analysis was very interesting so it more than made up for it.

Nerrel has a great voice though.

I like Nerrel a lot.

Errant Signal is a great channel. Definitely check him out:

Indigo Gaming has done some great long videos on stuff.

Um, I saw some videos from Razbuten that were good; I disagreed with him on some stuff but that's fine.

Hmmm.... SuperButterBuns is pretty funny:

The Gaming Historian, but his content can be a bit dry compared to the two you posted. Still, the guy does an amazing amount of research for his videos, which is why he only makes one every 1-2 months.

Not quite an essay from one person but if you want a very deep dive into game developers and how they create games.

Nearly every video has in-depth interviews with developers around the title they are talking about.

Came in to recommend this.

For just more casual analysis of games and games history/list-type videos and stuff, I will occasionally watch Outside Xbox/Outside Xtra and Playstation Access. WhatCulture Gaming sort of has the same format, but I tend to disagree with their take on a lot of things so I've sort of stopped watching those.

Jim Sterling is good if you want a really granular look at the business of gaming more than games themselves, but Jim's kind of losing his mind this year so his videos might be a bit of a turn-off for anyone who isn't already used to him.

Joseph Anderson puts a shit ton of work into his video game shit. His most famous (currently unfinished) series is on the Witcher games. Roughly 5 hours per video of critique each. His 3rd isn't out yet.
