Saw this floating around.

Notable things:
-20 pokemon are in it, but the title screen shows mons like Greninja, Mega Rayquaza, and there's an Ultra Beast in the game. Unknown if all pokemon were intended to be in or not.
-Mega Evolutions are in it, but Z moves are not.
-Lots of unfinished geometry >_>

So the issue was that GF was incredibly strapped for time and couldn't finish the game like they wanted before release?

Or was GF still incredibly lazy and 1/2 assed a game because they can do whatever they want?

Now it's pretty obvious the reason for leaving out Pokemon wasn't some time constraint bullshit. It was because they wanted people to come back to the game every time they released a DLC.

Boy I can't wait to play the same garbage, but more!

These things are fascinating. This build was only 18 months before the game released right? Just not enough damn time to develop these games properly. Hopefully with just DLC this year they'll have some more breathing room for the next one.

Also a 2017 build of Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee was also leaked but it hasn't been decrypted yet, so no one knows anything about it right now.

Only those 20 were accessible, but the data for all of the Pokemon in the franchise was still there. If you hex-edited any of the other Pokemon into the game, they would all work, though some of them had some unfinished data. This includes Pokemon that were cut from the dex and are not accessible in Sword/Shield. Meanwhile. if you hex-edited an unobtainable Pokemon into Sword/Shield, it wouldn't work at all because their data was completely scrubbed from the full release when it was already working in the beta.

So this still lends credibility to the fact that they could have easily included every Pokemon into Sword/Shield if they wanted to, but cut some of them to purposefully lock them behind DLC or (possibly more importantly) force players to stay subscribed to Pokemon Home. With Pokemon Bank, players were just buying one year to transfer all of their Pokemon to the next generation of games and then not staying subscribed. But if certain Pokemon can't be moved to certain games, then the player still needs Home after that initial move to the next generation to be able to access them in whatever later game might come out that they can be moved to.

The new theory going around is that Game Freak fucked up their importer tool for Sword/Shield which led to errors meaning they really did have to re-implement the model bones (but not the models and textures themselves) and did Dexit to save face and push their fuck-up as an intentional move that they could pretend to have "learned the lesson" and not do it again.

This is supported by a post on Reddit someone made months in advance which sounded like "my uncle works at Nintendo and he says.....", now being supported by this beta.

Note how in the footage of the beta builds, the cries are garbled, Greninja is missing its eyes, etc.

It's still damning that most of the pokmon we're seeing in these videos are cut pokmon and working just fine in camp though.

Either way, the game needed to be delayed in a very bad way. Aside from Dexit everything else about the game is half-assed and lacking. Straight line routes and all that shit.
