like holy fuck, I love my dog but its like he can read my mind and knows where Im going at all times. Im tripping over my dog non-stop because he is ALWAYS in my way. Is this a normal dog thing or is mine just kinda dumb?

Yeah, George likes to do that. We walk in the house and about halfway to the kitchen he just stops. One time I was coming up the driveway and he just lay in the middle of it, not caring that he had a pickup in his face.

Some dogs are legit always in the way. With others it's about you and your dog being in sync. We had a dog that my wife always swore was in the way, underfoot, and tripping her. I never had this problem. The dog generally stuck to my left hand side, about a foot ahead, or a foot behind depending on what we where doing. I knew this, and moved accordingly, as did the dog. The wife would turn and step into her, causing the dog the move somewhere else, where the wife would also trip over her. The dog never knew where to stand or how to move to not be tripped over. My wife never knew where the dog would be to not trip over her.

Yup. my dog always seems to position himself in the way no matter what, hes large dog aswell so its not like i can just pick him up and move him aside if he doesnt feel like moving.

My dog is a metaphorical shadow. Always right behind me. It can be annoying to say the least especially being used to small dogs that keep some distance away.

Why hasn't anyone posted a picture of the dogs they are talking about? Also, of course my dog is constantly in my way. He wants to be where I'm going and he's massive so he will always be somewhere inconvenient.

That happens with pretty much every pet on Reddit. On Reddit, its usually the husband (by sometimes the wife) that doesnt want the pet. Then, the same one who didnt want the pet is the one who spends the most time with it. Like the husband who didnt want the cat, then was recorded dancing around with the cat and playing with it...

My cat mostly does her own thing. Though she will push my bedroom door open, or bat stuff with he paw on the other side of the door. And if she curls up in my lap, Im not allowed to move until shes ready...

This is a pack heirarchy thing. It means the dog thinks it is the Alpha and it's asserting its dominance by making you walk behind it.

My Boston Terrier loves to get in front of your and dance in circles. My girlfriend's Queensland Heeler always wants to walk on the side that will squeeze her between your leg and the wall, couch, chair, bed, etc. If there's a wider path on your other side that won't cause youn o trip over her, she won't take it. Always has to try and squeeze through.

My son is allergic to dogs, both he and my daughter (as well my wife and I) would love a dog but it's not in the cards for us currently. So we live vicariously through other people's dogs (and cats @MICHALECOLE )

We've considered a hypoallergenic dog but we prefer to adopt from a shelter. Haven't really looked into it but I think we'd like to find someone who has a hypoallergenic dog and maybe spend a few months taking their dog for walks and visiting the dog, seeing what sort of reactions my son will have, if it's feasible to adopt. We don't want to go in blindly adopting dogs that either make our son suffer or that we need to turn around and put up for adoption because our son is suffering, as that would be terribly unfair to the animal, as well as to the our family who I'm sure will become attached to the dog.

Mostly my cat just sits outside closed doors so I have to gently open so she doesnt get hit by them.

She occasionally trips me up when Im going to the kitchen by running in between my feet but ya its cute

Yes. He's a fatty. Some sort of weiner dog mix. It belongs to my GF. I would never have allowed my dog to get as fat as she let him get. I don't have any better pics of him though.
