I watched a few episodes of this anime when I was a kid because of my sister, but never really got into it.

So... do I watch the original or Crystal? The original has like a million episodes, and apparently the last season never got dubbed because of gender fluidity(I'm not reading subtitles like some dumbass weeb). Is Crystal any good though?

It was first real anime I was into. Mainly cause it was the first one that went mainstream on us tv. I watched the original DIC dub. They never dubbed season 5 though so I never saw it. About 12 years ago I started watching the subbed version on YouTube back when you used to be able to upload entire episodes of anime on there. But I never got past like season 2

Also I watched a complete live action series of sailor moon which was kinda interesting. It's based on the first season of the anime

Anyway.....I think the last season is dubbed now. Hulu did a new dub that didn't censor anything and included the last season. But I haven't watched it so I don't know what it's like

Crystal I think is a reboot or remake. Haven't seen it either.

Sailor Moon and DBZ are the series that got me into anime. I watched all the dub parts of the original and some of the Japanese version for STARS (final season). I never finished it though I did read the plot. Anyways Crystal is a reboot that's much more accurate to the manga. So far they've done to the Dream arc I think.

Like I said I think the dub that is 5 seasons long on hulu called "sailor moon " is the uncut dub I was talking about. I just checked. They do have sailor moon and it says 5 seasons which the DIC dub only had 4. And the episode names lead me to believe it's the modern dub. Doesn't use dumb names DIC used to use

Crystal is more accurate to the manga, but many fans enjoy that the filler of the original anime helped flesh out the side characters more

I was into it a lot when I was 4/5. Rewatching the first season was kind of hard in my 20s because a lot of the first ones are repetitive. I think it picks up more later on.

It's a girls show but I would have thought many young/teen boys would like SM because of all the hot chicks in skimpy outfits in it. Indeed that's why all my other male friends watched it.

The DiC dub is great. I bet a lot of manga purists would complain that it's a poor representation of the source material but it's pretty funny.

The show is super light though. I'm like 20 episodes in to the first season and it's mostly just them dicking around for a bit, their friend gets turned crazy by the nega-verse, and then they fight a monster for about 3 minutes and win so everyone learns a lesson. There's not really a whole lot of deep character development or anything either. If I didn't have fond childhood memories or a desire to watch well drawn 90s anime I wouldn't really know why I was watching it.

And that means none of those things can be enjoyed by boys. Just like GI Joe and Transformers can't be enjoyed by girls.

I watched it as a kid I think. It was ok at best. I think I only watched it because other things were coming on after it.
