82% average through 69 reviews so far! A big improvement over Marvel's Avengers. The reviews directly reference this commenting how nice it is to just play a single player super hero game. The knocks against it include many bullet spongey enemies and needlessly complicated skill trees. Both of those actually sound like holdovers from Avengers to me because I think it had similar complaints. However the gameplay seems to be very fun and the story is solid so maybe add it to your list of games to play one day?

Eidos Montreal has crafted one of the best superhero games. Their attention to world-building and characterization should be followed by many studios to come. Exciting combat that blends action RPG elements with strategic player commands and breathtaking visuals and animations is something to behold. But what truly sets this title apart is the fantastic writing, not just for the Guardians themselves but for every character you come across. If you weren't a fan of the franchise before, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy might just change your mind.

Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy is the biggest surprise of the year, and joins Marvels Spider-Man as one of the best Marvel video games in the last decade. The Guardians themselves steal the show, depicted perfectly, with a movie/comic-worthy story that will leave you laughing and crying. The combat is a lot of fun with plenty of strategies to use, even if it can get a little repetitive, and the setting and locations blow you away in scale and how incredibly detailed and beautiful they are. This Guardians team absolutely stands on its own, and just like the movie Im hooked on a feeling.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a damn great, roughly 30-hour experience that anyone can enjoy regardless of their history with any content from Marvel's extensive catalog. While combat can be effortless, it's rarely dull with clear effort poured into every imaginable corner. Character scenes are full of fun moments of dialogue but still manage to feature some emotional story beats enhanced by the cast. Looking past my critiques, I had a joyous time with Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, and I hope it gets the praise it deserves.

At the end of the day, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is everything I wanted it to be. Theres classic Guardians snark, bickering, and epic fight scenes scored with tunes from my youth. It just needs a little more polish to make it really sing.

Im surprised its reviewing pretty well since I feel like a lot of people thought it didnt look very good.

When it was first announced I thought the game looked like it had potential, but that one extended gameplay demo had noticeable performance issues

Seems like those aren't as bad in the final product although there is a Day 1 patch promised to fix glitches reviewers found

Possibly, but I know people mostly thought the gameplay didnt look too appealing and also found the character designs really weird.

It seems like it might actually be fairly decent though which is great because its been a long damn time since the last good superhero game I think. If this, Gotham Knights, Wolverine, Spider-Man 2 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League all turn on to be good Ill be very happy.

Reviews are better than I thought it would be. Was a bit interested prior to this but I might actually give it a try now.

Got a chance to play the first chapter tonight. I'm enjoying it! The exploration and banter feel very TLOU-ish, the combat is smooth, the team aspect is, so far, pretty easy to get a hold of, and the music and humor are just what you'd expect from the source material.

Another thing I should mention is that this is the first time I've seen a game really acknowledge the streaming community within options and notifications. For example, there is an option to turn off all licensed music and have it replaced with off-brand soundalikes, and it actually says that this is for streamers who want to avoid copyright issues. It also notifies you to turn off your stream whenever you go to enter anything sensitive, ie your Square-Enix password.

The most recent Life is Strange has a streamer mode for licensed music too, but it just completely removes the music instead of replacing it which makes a lot of super awkward scenes.

Got to a battle that's proving to be a brick wall for me. Surprisingly it's not a boss, just a hoard. There's one among them that has a super powerful long-range weapon that's just fucking with me but I can't seem to figure out which one it is because I can't get close enough. It's in chapter 5. And what really sucks is that it's a long fight and I have to go back to the beginning each time I lose.

is it the fight with a ton of guys and theres like 2 of them that make this sweeping electric turret attack?

I nearly died on it and had to run around and play super safe for the last like 2 mins of the fight to win.

Theres a couple annoying fights in that chapter for sure

Completed up through the end of chapter 5. So far this game is pretty much exactly what I hoped it would be. I'm really, really enjoying it!
