They've been personally attacking me and everyone I respect professionally for 2 years. I'm a gay leftist who works at a pharmacy that prides themselves on the vaccines and HRT they also provide.

They said the vaccines are experimental bullshit pushed for money, that we are likely killing people with our stupidity or greed. They say gender transition is abuse and will be viewed like lobotomies one day.

They convinced my own mother to tell me my co-workers are lying to my face out of fear of being canceled.

I do my small part to help others and make sure my life is worth a damn, and they want to spit in my face and expect me to not demonize them.

I think hockey's interpretation of exactly how an America that has fallen to fascism will look is maybe a bit jumping ahead, but his interpretation of current events and how they're shaping the future of this country is absolutely on point, and always has been. It's more likely we evolve into a fascist, illiberal state akin to Hungary or Turkey before it gets worse, which it certainly may. Plenty of people who have made studying fascist movements their life's work have been calling how things would go since 2015, and been mostly correct

There doesn't need to be a coup (in the traditional sense) or a "v for vendetta or handmaiden's tale" scenario for America to fall to fascism. We're absolutely on the path to--at the least--a situation like Hungary or Turkey, which are both illiberal fascist states.

If it makes you feel better, you can tell people in forty years from now that you lived during the time period when the US nearly fell to fascism. It's okay to tell those big fish stories for a moment's attention and a little bit of entertainment value.

I don't want to say nobody will get hurt because that wouldn't be true. People are getting hurt and will continue to get hurt. Asian Americans are being attacked because bigots choose to scapegoat them for the virus. People have committed murder because they think it'll set off the second Civil War. (It won't.) Latino/Latina families have been torn apart by attempts to scapegoat them as the source of problems in America. People regardless of ethnicity are being killed by a virus because others outright choose to be carriers for it.

But there isn't going to be a day where Adolf W. Trump forces you to swear allegiance to the the church of the white race anymore than there will be a day when a Democratic president rips the Bible from a God-fearing father's hands and tells him he's a bricklayer in the Soviet States of America.

For real. It's crazy that these people just can't grasp that the vast majority of people just don't see it, and them not seeing it doesn't simply mean they're wildly ignorant or misinformed. The possibility that they're wrong, and that we're not on the edge of Nazi America doesn't even exist.
