I think FMJ and EWS are both excellent films.

I love The Shining, but Dr Strangelove didn't do anything for me and 2001 bored me.

He's probably the most important director of the 20th century who didn't contribute to the craft of filmmaking. He made his films completely selfishly

It's easier to list Kubrick films I didn't like, tbh. There's only one. Eyes Wide Shut

One of my all time favorites and I've seen them all multiple times. I dunno if I have a favorite.

He has an interesting history seeing as most of his stuff were adaptations of others work but repurposed to speak his voice.

There's something about his aspect ratio I find comforting as well. I dunno how else to explain it, but the moment a Kubrick film begins, it's so obviously Kubrick, and I just kind of fall into it. Kubrick films are great at keeping my undivided attention both with their aesthetic and the meat of the story and how it's told.

Kubrick and Altman hit me the same way. They both were so perfectly unique with the way they told their stories and I just love that about both of them.

2001 and Full Metal for sure.

If anyone here watches Toast of London there is an excellent scene where the main character stumbles onto Kubricks set for the moon landing, resulting in the CIA stalking him.
