Went with the Switch Axe, and it seems pretty badass so far.

I know these games are supposed to be hard, but they gave out some OP armor set and made it so you can craft a really strong weapon in the beginning. So I'm just breezing through the content so far, just button mashing, but I'm guessing this is going to fuck me up in the long run.

Im really happy you get to experience this truly amazing game. No one ever talks about the score but its fucking amazing. Sometimes I play some of the themes while driving.

Yeah I think that armor was added before iceborne to jump you to it.

I do like the monster hunter music, but I may be spoiled - I think the 3U versions of many unique monster songs (like Brachydios) are better than their new versions

Switch axe and gunlance are my favorites

The games never seemed interesting, and the combat looked very clunky. Well, I had my Dark Souls epiphany like a year ago, and many people compare the MH difficulty to DS difficulty, so I said fuck it, let's give it a try. Yes, I have the game on Steam.

Iceborn is like after the whole game, right? Does this mean the armor will stay OP throughout the whole run until I get Iceborn?

Yeah, Iceborne is meant to be played after the main game with monsters that have stronger attacks, higher hp, higher aggression, etc.

The special armor you get is mostly for players who want to directly jump into endgame and just want to skip the standard progression.

If this is your first time playing, then I would suggest NOT using the armor and play the game through normally.

Switch Axe is really fun, it's my third "main"

Yeah using the mega armor/weapon will likely ensure you HATE the game after getting to Iceborne, I was getting frustrated with it even that I had like 200+hrs in the base game.

Personally I liked the special armour but I did swap it out for more offensive kit pretty early - but I used the special weapon for a LONG time (cuz I love the Slime element)
