I mean...they've pretty much translated "leave at door" to mean "shove in the mailbox" 100% of the time. Is there a reason that Amazon even lets me put those instructions on my address if there's never going to be any attempt to follow them?

How do Amazon workers deliver packages if they're at the warehouse?

They have hundreds of deliveries to make each day, they don't have time to go reading the instructions on each package.

I almost never have a problem with delivery. The only problems I've ever had from Amazon have mostly been from the robots or warehouse wage-slaves fucking up books by dropping them into the box without giving a shit and fucking up the cover/pages.

I'm actually sending a book back this week because of that.

I once had amazon "yell" at me and put clearer delivery instructions. I don't know how to make "side entrance" any more clear, and they still manage to screw it up.

I imagine that they have a pretty brutal route to get through every day. Amazon can make the directions clear and tell their drivers to pay attention to them, but so long as they're under extreme time pressure a lot of drivers are going to skip that step.

And with that...pow! I'm gone!

If the package was left in the mailbox, it was probably delivered by the Post Office. It's illegal for anyone else to put anything in your mailbox without proper postage. If the postman finds it they can confiscate it and hold it until you pay postage.

It's because their soul has been crushed utterly and completely. Now they walk as shattered husks of what was once alive. They breath but it is only to sustain the flesh that remains. No spark of hope, life, love, or joy is within them anymore as it has all been ripped away. To you their package is not something to be 'cared' for so much as it's delivery is a way to stave off the punishment and another tortuous step along a daily road of misery.

That is why they don't follow the instruction. Not because they do or don't, but because the will to do or don't has been stripped from them. Little more than organic machines now.

They use to listen to them. Then they started getting everybody to order from them. And their workload increased so significantly that they dont have time to follow them anymore

I once had my kindle oasis delivered to my old office that had the delivery instructions for Monday-Friday 8am to 6pm. The Amazon delivery person "delivered" it at 6:30am. Not sure where since it's an office building with no public access outside of those hours. Took three days and about 6 supervisors to finally have them send me a new one.

if they are coming to your mailbox, it legally can't be delivered by an Amazon driver. it's either ups, or you need to contact customer support.

also, the instructions aren't easily seen by drivers, and most don't care.

Like everyone who works supply chain, they have half as much time as they should to do their work. I'm not a driver, though. I work in the warehouse. And it's not Amazon. Anyway, the only reason I'm still employed is because I'm still in my 90 days. Which is the opposite of the usual kind of 90 days. During the 90 days of my warehouse, it's very hard to get fired. On top of that, the work is so unforgiving, they have very high turnover despite paying well. I would call the pay very well, except I'm probably making the company 30-50x what they pay me and the other people who can hit their quota are probably making the company 100x or more what they are paid.

So yeah, delivery drivers are probably the second-most aggrieved people in America. First is people like me who actually work in the warehouse. So cut them some slack, TC.

Well, I'm mostly asking why the instructions are even there. Like, why does Amazon have that box to fill in if it's not going to matter?

I mean, surely Amazon above all realizes they've crushed the soul of delivery drivers everwyehere... And said drivers can't follow their directions... So why doesn't Amazon just take that option off for users?

I mean, unless it's just so Amazon can claim nothing is their fault when the complaints roll in.

some drivers follow it, some don't.

but like I said, if it's the mailbox, it's legally ups. ups doesn't see any Amazon instructions. the shipping label looks different with ups.

Not to say it was them who delivered them, but it not out of the Question they could have. Also like the other Poster says, they also Sub-Contract their work to other Companies, so yea, they are technically still being paid by Bezos

Wouldnt they actually be paid by their company instead of being paid by Bezos? It sounds likes the company is paid by Bezos (and whoever else contracts them)

And even then, I dont think what you and muscles said would matter. Muscles said they were getting like $5 an hour to work 20 hours in a warehouse. But that probably wouldnt affect the people contracted out. And you mentioned Bezos not paying a livable wage. But it would be up to the company they work for (the company contracted by Amazon) to do that. And that company might. Especially if they are contract to other places, as well
