Have you ever used a Razer product?

I think I'll finally try Elden Ring, among other games I've been missing out on.

It's the Intel Core i7-10750H 6-Core, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q, 15.6" 4K OLED, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD model. I have another 500GB SSD that I'm going to throw into it when it gets here, going to try PopOS on it and keep the Windows installation intact.

Pretty excited.

I had the 2019 RTX 2080 model. Great laptop but I wish it had the OLED screen.
One recommendation I have is to set the CPU to low in the Synapse software. It has almost no impact on game performance but dramatically improves temperatures.

No it had a 240 Hz 1080p screen. The problem is that it was really dim and not very color accurate. The high refresh rate was good, but that's about it.

Razer's laptops are by far their best made products. Much better than their accessories, at least in my experience.

My blade's build quality beat the crap out of my current Lenovo - although the Lenovo's 500 nit screen and high-wattage GPU basically fulfilled what I really need.

To be honest, though, I would have stuck with my blade if my employer hadn't paid for new IT stuff for us.

Nice, I considered the more compact model but I have an ultrabook already pretty much, so I didn't go for that one.

I have it, but right now it's flipped over and I'm inserting a second SSD, but I will post some pics soon. It's the standard black, though that mercury white one looked really nice.

I didn't get the "best" deal but it was good enough for me to pull the trigger on it. I spent around $1,300. I know you can find advanced models for a few hundred more these days, though.

I always kind of wanted one of their laptops since they seem to be well made and have great specs. I can never justify it, though, since I have an overpowered desktop and I don't travel much.

I never used any of their mice or keyboards, though. I remember when their stuff had a really bad rep and broke all the time. I think their modern mice are pretty well received, though.

Some pics, this thing is definitely a fingerprint magnet, but it is what it is. Also my internet is abysmal right now so just ignore that.

1 - Weird placement of the power button, wasn't at all expecting this to be it. It's laid into the speaker. Kind of slick though.

2 - I put my mouse away for these because it's junky.

Not really, I paid around $1,300 which is pretty average for this model right now. The advanced can be found for a little bit more. As for if it was discounted from MSRP, definitely. The base had a lesser graphics card for roughly $1,600 in 2020.

I did get the 32" 4k monitor for $330 but that's still on the way, the SSD I added today ran me like $105, for a total of 1.5TB of space.

Yeah from what I've seen of it the Zephyrus is a beast. Both of those would be solid options for sure.

For real, my only complaint is there are tons of files available for literally every other razer keyboard but they are all incompatible with the laptops. That said it's been fun making my own layers and stuff in the software.

When I read this topic I was honestly surprised it wasn't yours lol

I used the Razer Turret keyboard when I was trying to make my desktop PC a console replacement for the big TV. Never felt the same. I actually think laptops are better for that sort of thing.

Still works fine though. Used it not long ago when I was working from home in a different room.

This monitor will be my last bumpage. Small desk, the monitor fit perfectly on the monitor stand I picked up. None of the screen is blocked up by the laptop, which is perfect for this compact space. I plan on backlighting the wall with some LED strip on the back of the monitor and calling it done.

Using my RTX 2080 Razer as we speak.

Build quality absolutely bodies my new Lenovo - but I can't complain since my employer paid for my Lenovo lol.

For what it's worth - the Lenovo is way, way, way more powerful because this 2080 is one of those 90w Max-Q variants, so it's pretty hamstrung by the power budget. The Lenovo has a 165W 3080. A 61% performance uplift in a single generation is not typical.

Oh yeah I did read your topic about scoring the Lenovo, seems like a great laptop all considered. Can't beat free.

So far I haven't hit any walls with the current setup (for what I want to do) but as far as the lifetime of the unit goes that Lenovo should stay relevant for much longer which is a yuge bonus.

Totally. Honestly, there's almost no performance differential between the 2070 and 2080 models because IIRC the 2070 actually has a higher power budget than the 2080. So that will last you for years as long as you're running at 1080p or 1440p. 4K should be OK on any game older than 2019ish.
