Dude says he "knows nothing of politics" and "doesn't want to get involved" and then goes balls deep in sponsorship from some MAGA grifter. He let all his old sponsors go in the meantime and has now basically kicked himself off his own team due to lack of money.

He apparently involved himself with some crypto guy that scared his other sponsors away because of politics

Am I missing something? Unless I'm misunderstanding the article or there's other stuff going on that isn't in the article, it doesn't seem to me like any of this is his fault. As far as I know, he's never pushed or agreed with any of the political messages that went along with the "let's go Brandon" chant, but he lost all of his sponsorships simply because his brand has been damaged by the chant existing and being so polarizing. The only sponsorship offer he got was the cryptocurrency one, which I assume is the "MAGA grifter" that OP is referring to, but NASCAR were the ones who rejected it because of the connection to politics. He never took that offer, so he still has no sponsors and his team is severely underfunded.

But he threw in with LGBCoin, which was never approved by NASCAR. Dude behind it changed the name to Trade the Chain and also sponsored Brown through Zero FG energy drink. Surprisingly, the money dried up if it ever really existed in the first place.

Larry's Hard Lemonade and someone else were interested in re-signing IIRC. Not doubling down on something he said he wanted to avoid may have brought in other sponsors this year if he gave it a chance.

Well, NASCAR did drop the banhammer on political sponsorship last season, which they told Brown beforehand.

And by political, I mean politicians, campaigns, PACs, militias, divisive slogans. The US Air Force still sponsors a car. Various veteran and patriotic companies or charities are allowed. Fox News is allowed. Thankfully, pride colors are allowed.
