Not because the movie was bad. It seemed really good.

The people all around us were talking loudly and wouldn't be quiet

And there were several kids running around in the theater

So we were like "aight we'll come back later" and the theater was nice enough to comp us for a late show tn

The funniest part was the group around us talking loudly was a group of what appeared to be international students from the local college.

I'm literally a white guy who shushed a bunch of black people in a showing of Black Panther

I can relate to this because I went to see a movie in a theater I think like a decade ago or maybe longer than that but I don't remember.

The only time I saw someone walk out of a theater was at a showing of the Sacha Baron Cohen movie 'The Dictator'.

That self pleasure scene was what did it.

Someone thought it was a good idea to bring a young family to THE DICTATOR

I've never actually walked out, but I saw The Other Guys in theaters with 2 friends of mine. One of them was always super cynical and negative and he absolutely hated it and talked shit about it for the whole rest of the night and wished we had walked out. The other friend is a lot more positive and always tries to make the most of everything. I'm more leaning toward him but kind of in the middle. We both completely 100% agreed with the cynical dude though. I can't believe that movie gets any kind of praise. I usually like Will Ferrell. The opening with The Rock and Samuel L. Jackson is funny, but the rest of the movie is predictable derivative garbage and just terrible all around. The only thing worthwhile about that viewing was the interesting experience of seeing it with a neutral-ish approach with a naive optimist and a cynical self-imposed critic and having all of us agree that it was utter shit.

I took my sister out on a whim to see that movie because she was having a hard time with my mother and I wanted to be a good bro and get her out of the house for a little bit. I think we went rather late in that movies theater run cause the place was fairly empty, it was just us and a rather small crowd of other random in the theater. To this day my sister says that the most amusing part of that movie is I wouldn't stop laughing at every single thing happening at the screen. The theater would be dead quiet except for me busting a gut and she felt hella embarrassed.

I can't imagine why you'd be laughing that much lol so I get where your sister is coming from. Will Ferrell, who I had usually found really funny, came across as an insecure asshole, and Mark Wahlberg came across as a hotheaded overeager douche. They had no chemistry and they both portrayed shitty annoying archetypes and just none of it worked for me.

I honestly can't even remember the villains or any other characters except Samuel L Jackson and The Rock (in the opening) and Eva Mendes, and I didn't care for her character because she was an enabler to Will Ferrell's bullshit. But yeah, in the end, I can't remember who the villain was or their baddies and I was sober the whole time lol.

My largely black theater was pretty quiet.

Nobody even said anything when they played that trailer where Jim Parsons is gay and loves other men.

I can rarely see a newly released film in theaters without being annoyed and distracted. You really can't go an hour and a half without eating noisy popcorn and candy?
