Cambridge Dictionary has updated their definitions of "man" and "woman" to include those who identify.

An adult who lives and identifies as female though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth

That's just proof to them that institutions are infiltrated by woke cultural marxists.

How does this work, if for example someone makes a 911 call to report some urgency, say "i just saw a man kidnap a girl and get into a van"

If you don't know what that man identifies as, are you possibly missgendering him and the girl?

If you must know I literally copied the full username from the chat of a Youtube live I was watching at the moment I made the account here, since I initially made it to just ask one question I wanted to ask, didn't intend for a well thought username. It was made on a whim and completely random.

That's like saying Biden detractors take a hard loss when it comes to discussing recession because he redefined the word. All this proves is that definitions are sometimes updated for arbitrary reasons, but it doesn't address the meat of the matter.

It's only one example representing pretty much any day to day life scenario, and the reason for which many people might be opposing it, and responses like yours are the reason they probably still do. It's not about the scenario. It's one example that ilustrates why some people object to the notion of defining gender based on what a person identifies as given that it only works in a personal or direct situation. Like aplying it among people you are relating with. But how does it work outside of that?

I'm the one who asked the question by the way, but again, not interested in personal attacks at all so if that's the only answer you can come up then more like you can shut up.

Also, worth pointing out that even in a society of 100% cis people, you could still misgender someone. Sometimes perceptions will be wrong. It happens.

You do realize thar no rational person is assuming people will never misgender someone by mistake. The entire concept of respecting pronouns and the like just means "Don't be an asshole, call people what they tell you they want to be called".
