The premise of this movie is really fucking creepy. Imagine if the characters' genders were switched.

Also it doesn't help that much of the director's previous works focus on a similar theme

Modern trailer editing. The first clip is the five seconds they'll use for stuff like youtube, tiktok, and snapchat. The longer trailer is the official version with context. It's pretty common to see nowadays for some reason.

We as the audience know she's not actually kidnapping him anyways, we know she's just clumsily trying to seduce him because it's a comedy about a man finally coming of age and a woman learning to understand people on a deeper level. He's misunderstanding it. That's what makes it a comedy. You know, sometimes comedy are a little controversial or edgy in order to be funny? You know that thing that comedy does? Because it's a fucking comedy and not a recommendation on how a woman should date a man?

So what's the point of recontextualizing the whole thing in a way to make it look as bad as possible? Just so you can be outraged about how "problematic" it is?

Nobody makes comedy films anymore because the only benefit of R-rated comedy films was being able to say things you couldnt on TV (as opposed to action films or whatever that benefit from the bigger budget/screen).

now with so many streaming services everything that would have been an R-rated comedy is just a TV show (and probably better off for it)

Podcasts do raunchy comedy better and I don't really have a need for movies to do it anymore. If people like it, Im glad they have it tho. Honestly, the entire world is raunchy now. So, I never feel like seeking it out. Everyone is so open about deeply personal things.

Is the premise of being paid to date someone weird? Yes. But her character isn't exactly portrayed in a positive light.
