Politics is such a broad subject and most of the time they don't directly effect you and there isn't much you can do to control the issue so why worry about it?

i guess since there is no strategic goal to recapture land, it will just never be the same to me. what happened in Weimar was predicated on Germany actually having lost part of their national identity. that isn't the case with what is going on in the US right now.

that's my worry though, Gilead is a fiction and anything approaching that would be an unknown. so even if the US is moving in that direction we don't really know what the actual signs are. saying "this is just like weimar" means you have to account for everything involved in that comparison, if one piece is missing then the causal logic is going to fall apart or you're going to get events happening on other sides that explains the logic for stuff that actually lacks comparison

It's how I was raised. One doesn't discuss politics religion or their sex life. Outside of friends and family of course.

And I really don't like discussing any of it. Most I'll talk about my sex life is yeah I fucked some people. I'm not gonna get into the details. Most ill say about politics is both sides have issues I agree and disagree with. Religion if we are just discussing the facts of the religion and there's no this is the right religion angle I'm cool with that cause some religions have some cool mythos/lore whatever you wanna call it. I point blank told him I don't wanna talk religion but he keeps insisting we met so he could show me the path to God.

A lot of the time, these are the same people who view anything counter to the status quo as inherently political, like merely acknowledging the existence of gay people in media.

They claim to not care about politics, but the reality is that everything that makes them uncomfortable is "political".

They are trying to raise the median income range here to push out the poors. They are trying to keep the governors travels a secret here. They are trying to make it easier to sue journalists here.

I still think moving to another country should have some minimum barriers legally. Like I don't want criminals just coming over as they please. My requirements I feel would be fair. No nefarious crimes like murder or rape. Maybe put a time cap where they've been crime free for x amount of time after said nefarious crime fine then they are good. (Idk about rapists though...) And I'd like an attempt at learning the native language. Learning a new language is hard so if they at least make the effort I'm good with that. Even if all they remember are some key words that will help in emergency situations.

I did mean to mention documentation. But those would be things I'd be looking at if it where up to me if I was deciding if someone could come into the country legally and have that documentation.

I feel documentation is important.

Not a perfect analogy but like when mybmom worked security at the gatehouse for a military base someone got mad at her for not letting them bring in their kids (outside contractors) but explained to them they didn't have visitors passes and if shit hit the fan on thr base they wouldn't be looking for their kids cause they don't exist as far as their paperwork is concerned. Existing on paperwork has its reasons.
